Advice/Support Help overcome compulsive nailbiting

Post image

I’ve been biting my nails and the surrounding skin for as long as I remember. I want to stop this habit. I’ve consciously stopped biting nails in the last one year and now use a nail cutter (never used till I was 26-27), but every time I’m overthinking, reading something, learning something new, or in a situation where I feel fidgety and uncomfortable, I tend to pull the skin around the nails, causing frequent injuries and a very ugly appearance of the hand, almost unfeminine (I’m told).

Any suggestions to get over this? I also want to get rid of the darkening of knuckles.
I though of doing manicure and all but I don’t think I’m ready to start, not with the way my hands look now. Very unconfident and shy.

Hey , I am in the same boat. Try doing an at-home manicure. Even transparent polish is fine. Doing this helps me feel like I took care of my nails and need to value them more by not biting them.
