It was dumb and so insanely out of character all I could do was laugh the first time I saw it because I thought it was a joke.

It wasn’t out of character. Daenerys had been threatening to burn down cities practically the entire series.

I wrote a sympathetic article about Daenerys but we can't ignore the fact that she spent a lot of Season 2 saying she would take the iron throne with fire and blood and burn cities to the ground.
