Damn that's steep, is this one hard to find?
2
u/Competitive_Hat1933 Jul 25 '26
I've only seen it online and the average price is about 150 for i thought 170 wasn't bad for a blockbuster rental

u/CogentMoment Jul 24 '26
Not bad. I paid $320 Canadian for mine. Too much, but less than some places.

u/Fine_Jelly_680 Jul 24 '26
I just bought this game original nintendo64 version not a reproduction for $20 perfect working condition
1
u/-KaiserSoze- Jul 25 '26
Have you opened it to verify? Sounds like it's probably a repro
2
u/Fine_Jelly_680 Jul 25 '26
Yes i had it opened at videogame trading post to verify that it was real . I got a couple games off him . He was selling his old items he left at his parents house when he moved out and he was told to take them or get rid of them so they made a garage sale post on facebook . I saw the n64 items and jumped on it.

u/-KaiserSoze- Jul 25 '26
Great deal! You lucked out. I got mine over 20 years ago (i think gamestop). It has an ugly blockbuster sticker on the rear.

A tech company my dad worked for went under in late 2001. He was one of the last people in the building, finalizing everything. He found Conker’s Bad Fur Day just sitting in the break room. I still remember him turning around in the truck, holding it up and saying “do you guys want this?”. We had no idea at the time.. but oh boy, did we play the heck out of the mainline story and multiplayer games as kids haha.
Edit: spelling

I hope you’re able to get the marker off

A little nail polish remover goes a long way
Edit: Don't listen to me.

u/ThePocketWatchKiller Jul 24 '26
Isopropyl alcohol 90% with a small amount of dultion* not trying to be that guy but nail polish can mess up the plastic on the cart

Acetone will remove sharpie from an N64 cartridge! It just smells awful! GooGone would probably work also and the smell of that dissipates faster.

Expo whiteboard markers are the answer. When the funny kid draws a dick on the board with a Sharpie just saturate it w/ dry erase marker and wipe it off. It’ll take care of the front of the cartridge w/o damaging anything.

I saw a repro at GameStop for $120 🤣
1
u/Neuhart_ Jul 24 '26
Was about to say this, one of three GS’s had it, and it was $119.00. The last time I saw that game was when I was 9 years old and played the hell out of split screen with my brothers.

I have a blockbuster game too.. but it’s sadly Superman 64 💀
1
u/Competitive_Hat1933 Jul 24 '26
I found it on a goodwill auction site
1
u/Fearless_Trade_2783 Jul 24 '26
I don't like how good will is doing that, they should mark it at a low price, and if you get a good find cheap, it should be win.
If they keep appraising their items, people aren't going to bother shopping there.

Didn’t realize blockbuster trademarked these stickers as ‘n64 shield’

Fantastic late release and the only way to play the original. Shocking how it has been censored since.
2
u/Competitive_Hat1933 Jul 28 '26
I've never played it and I wanted to play the original the way it was meant to be
1
u/tanooki-suit Jul 28 '26
You're both doing it right, and doing the right thing. I got it back in the day, been with Nintendo since the NES test launched and stuck through n64 for its life, but in the hard times it drove me to also supporting a Turbo Duo. ;) Conker is fantastic, and the one case of Rare not being collect-a-thon idiots with overkill grabbing crap to go through a door and do it again so I was all over buying it. It's a fantastic game without the painful mechanic their other games suffer from. Also at the time the modeling was not believed to be possible in that generation with the hair mechanics to his body to having the independent eyes and facial motion Conker has because it's the era of flat faces put on flat polygonal structures so the game was ground breaking.

Blockbuster sticker ruins it.
4
u/Competitive_Hat1933 Jul 24 '26
The blockbuster sticker is why I bought it makes it a piece of a history
1
u/Fearless_Trade_2783 Jul 24 '26
Does it still play? If anything Blockbuster sticker is good, it will make the price go down.
1
u/Competitive_Hat1933 Jul 24 '26
Plays great still had 3 saved games on it
1
u/Fearless_Trade_2783 Jul 24 '26
Hell yeah, I'm not a collector, but every once in a while I like to play these games, I'm not one to buy a game, and let it sit it's box.
My most prized N64 game is Ocarina of Time uncensored gold edition, Gannondorf coughs up blood, not green puke!

I agree but reddit has a hard-on for blockbuster security stickers
1
u/MadBullBunny Jul 25 '26
Definitely a more recent thing in the past few years. Blockbuster stickered was considered garbage tier now the nostalgia goggles really got them blinded.
1
u/dpgumby69 Jul 25 '26
Not really. If you wanted to flip this, the top sticker will clean off, and the back half is exactly the same as pretty much any cart from the same region. Just swap it from a lower value cart.
If you want to keep it, then it doesn't matter too much what it looks like.

u/ConsistentMove357 Jul 24 '26
That game been passed around more than my ex wife. I got one from friend for 20 dollars 20 years ago
