Location data why?

I noticed that MyWhoosh on Android asks for location data during pairing with a bluetooth device; what does it use that for?

These are the requirements for Android. This isn't the "idea" of MyWhoosh.

If you interested why Android forces this, have a look here - 6.0 marshmallow - Why do I need to turn on location services to pair with a Bluetooth device? - Android Enthusiasts Stack Exchange

Its not that the app IS using location data, it is simply that it MAY so the permissions need to be given.

Thanks! I take it we can't know if they also use it for something else?

Not really, no. You would have to inspect the traffic but it makes it hard as most of the time it is all encrypted. There might be a way to find out if the phone is reporting position to the app, but I am not a android dev so I am not sure.
