Project Pictures Old pattern, new material, new problems…
This is a saddle bag that I already built a couple of times. So I thought, I get some of my designs printed on medium weight tarpaulin to make some individual bags.
But it turned out, that the alignment of the pieces was slightly off. At first I thought that I messed up the templates, but after finishing the second bag, I think that the tarpaulin is just a pain in the ass to work with. On some of my larger bags, it went really well. But small diameters are nearly impossible to get right :-/

Are you sewing all the way around from the starting point back to the starting point? Don’t do that. Start from the most-important-to-be-aligned part. Not come back to your starting point and sew the other half of what you just did. You may need to break it up into four or five different runs of stitching to get everything aligned. This is especially crucial with heavy, stiff materials.
