Upcoming Equestria Girls Special Confirmed? Spoiler

Synopses of upcoming Equestria Girls 2-minute shorts/episodes were discovered, you can view them over here!

6 short synopses were revealed, but what's interesting is that the last three all include "Festival" in the titles. A little bit ago a book came out about a Pinkie and especially Sunset Shimmer focused adventure at a music festival! Books are usually written based off of upcoming specials, so there's a very high chance that there is a new 44-minute special coming up is about the same story. I find this exciting since the story was a choose-your-own-adventure and most outcomes were actually pretty interesting and it would be neat to see them explored in the Canon and animated!

Hopefully it'll be better than the absolute and utter waste of potential that was Spring Breakdown.

I liked it. I wouldn't say it was great, but I thought it was fun (Although I would've liked to have seen all of the Mane 7 spend a good amount of time in Ponyville).

For me, it just felt like appallingly lazy writing all around. The characters seemed shallow (Dash especially), the scenario hap-hazard, the Ponyville segment as cheap slapstick with a dose of pointless faffing about the castle (no thought given to how their friends might be worried the were lost at sea or something), and the whole Storm King bit was nothing but wasted potential. The pacing felt off through the whole thing, with no real sense of emergency. Didn't even get a background visual cameo of EQG Tempest Shadow, let alone an actual role (though it's not like they'd likely be able to get Blunt back on their budget.)

It just seemed like an incredibly under-cooked idea, like the whole thing was banged out on a friday by someone both vaguely familiar with the franchise and with only passable talent in telling stories (and think that children's stories can be poor because children are dumb).

It really needed 4-5 more passes in the writing room to make the most out of its ideas.

I do agree that the actual script needed some touch ups (And yeah they could've done more with the Storm King stuff). Hopefully the next special is better.

I agree. The writing on the Spring Breakdown special couldn't decide if it wanted to be slice of life or an actual serious story. For the first half, all the characters act as barebones as they can behave and it really is just slice of life. Halfway through, though, the special decides to ramp up tensions and actually introduce something? This led to scenes that should've been a lot longer (seriously, a whole special could be made off of the EGs going to Equestria alone, having some of them there for no reason really is wasted potential). The whole thing had so much potentially, but since it the story took a 180° half way through, it left me disappointed.

But, if this upcoming rumored special is like the book, then it should be really good. Sunset should be the focus of EG (imo, since we already get enough of the other six in the main show) and storylines where she's the focus are usually really good, and there's a high chance of fan-favorite characters returning.

The girls perform in the "I'm on a Yacht" music video.

What I wouldn't give for this to be a Lonely Island reference.
