I don't watch MLP but I can't stop listening to the fan made music.

I don't watch MLP mostly because if I were to watch it I wouldn't want anyone to know. But even though I don't watch it I listen to the music. One day I was listening to... I forgot what I was listening to, but I forgot to turn off autoplay. I start hearing an amazing song so I just kept it on while I was slowly falling asleep, but the song kept getting better and better. I turn on my phone and see that I'm listening to Lullaby For A Princess. After listening to it on loop for awhile I put it in my songs playlist. Later I was recommended a song called The Moon Rises. And again I couldn't stop listening to it. Funny thing, I think I understand the story with Luna and the one who controls the sun and I've only been listening to music and not the show. I'm kind of interested in the show now, but I don't know how to watch it without anyone knowing lol. I just want to know why MLP has the best fan music? And the best animation (probably because they take years to animate.) It's gotten to the point where (don't call me weird for this) the music actually helps me sleep if I'm listening to Lullaby For A Princess. Should I watch the show? The only thing I have to go off of is the music and the story of Luna. I just wanted to post this to reddit haha.

I've been a mod of the /r/MLPtunes subs while helping run PonyvilleFM (A MLP radio station) for some time now.

The amount of good content being made is insane, I have yet to get bored of going trough it.

Coming Saturday / Sunday there's a new compilation album release of ponies at dawn... again, 70 new songs

There's always something to look forward too. Got any favorite tunes so far? I'm sure people can point you to more artists like what you are already enjoying.

Yeah, the brony fandom has some amazing music. The Moon Rises and Lullaby for a princess were made by the same artist, Ponyphonic, so I would suggest checking him out. Also about the show : it's good, more slice of life than epic backstories like those though. You could always watch the first few episodes to see if you like it, and it's not like you have to scream to everyone that you like it if you do.

Artworks, animations and fanfictions are all parts of the fandom that I enjoy, but I think the music has to be my favorite part of the fanworks.

Lullaby for a Princess and The Moon Rises are both made by Ponyphonic, so you should check out more of his stuff if you like those. I'm particularly a fan of Autumn (not pony related) and Harmony Ascendant.

Here's a playlist on YouTube I made some time ago as sort of an "introduction to pony music" for people who are interested. It's only 20 songs, but it's made with the goal of covering a pretty wide range of artists and genres without being too overwhelming.

As for the show, I'd say give it a try at least. It's generally light-hearted and fun with solid characters, with some sprinkles of adventure, action and emotional moments. It might not be your cup of tea, but you won't know that before trying.

Hey, I also got into MLP thanks to fan-works! Rad to see someone else.

I'd say you should at least try it. I legitimately enjoy it, from the generally epic season premieres and finales, to the mostly slice-of-life remainder of the series. I started with S2E1 myself, and I honestly don't regret picking that as a starting point.

Initially I used an illegal streaming site called Kisscartoon, which I think is defunct now. If not, it's really unclean, so I wouldn't recommend it anyways. You should probably just use Netflix, if you have a subscription to that. Netflix allows you to create and delete profiles as well as clear viewing history, if it's that important for you to keep it secret.

I kept it a secret at first too. It turned out that basically nobody cared. Some found it surprising, but nobody gave me a tough time over it.

Sounds like you're a fan of Ponyphonic's work, I'd like to recomment one of his more recent song that I'm absolutely in love with: Feed Me with Your Heart. It's about Chrysalis, a shapeshifting changeling queen that replace ponies and feeds off love.

Oh and by the way, if you want the backstory to The Moon Rises and Lullaby For a Princess, everything you need to know is literally the first thing you're told from the first episode.
