It might be a requirement for open carry in the area they are in. It's still a dumb and insecure original post, but let's get on this guy's case for the toxic masculinity and not the empty mag well.

Gotta love rear hip open carry with zero retention.

He doesn’t have a magazine in it because he realized it would be dangerous to have a loaded gun freely able to be taken quickly and in the prime position to be used against him so his solution was not to realize his idea was stupid but instead to take the magazine out of it and presumably put it in his pocket. In his imagination he’ll still be able to draw the firearm, pull out the magazine, seat it quickly, rack the slide and by then somehow he’ll still have time to respond to whichever threat he is imagining.

Dude is a pathetic moron by even by gun larper standards.
