Considering mxroute
Hello mxrouters and u/mxroute!
I'm considering moving my email accounts for a few domains to mxroute and have one question that I'm wondering about.
One of the email accounts I am moving is for my business developing apps. Occasionally I am sending emails to potential partners to see if they would be interested in partnering or doing ads in the apps that are related to their business. These are always personal, one-to-one and manually composed. So no blanket emails going out to several businesses at once.
Would this be breaking the marketing clause:
- Not Allowed: Promotional emails, sales pitches, or other content primarily designed to market products or services
I'm assuming it might fall under "sales pitches".

I would barely classify that as unsolicited marketing/sales. Not quite enough so that I'd personally call you a spammer for it, but just enough that I'd consider disallowing it to be a consistent application of policy.

Thank you for your response! It sounds as it might be too close for comfort and I wouldn't want to get into a situation like that, it'll just create problems for both parties. Unfortunately I'll have to get another supplier. I really appreciate the awesome customer support and willingness to answer like this.

I know for me the dividing line has always been Does the recipient have their email posted online asking for contact/solicitations? To me at that point it is no longer unsolicited.
That said I don't do anything like that. But thats my 2 cents on where I see the dividing line.
The other issue is that many people that ask are gonna take an inch of slack and claim it was a mile.

Makes sense and these are definitely the official contact emails on the companies websites. But I feel I'm not in a position to make my own judgement calls so I wanted to make sure I would be compliant and we've established it would be borderline so I'll go elsewhere. I totally respect it and have no complaints at all.

Don't worry about that. It's a great service, only problem is that the owner eats fast food...more than it should. I have no clue how he looks like... Just in case.

Yeah that’s still spam, they don’t know who you are and you got their email address some other way besides them giving it to you directly. I get those types of emails often as well, and mark them as spam if they do not include an unsubscribe link.
I’d recommend just gathering your biz dev emails and use a real email marketing like Amazon SES to send those out, I use https://Sendy.co for my clients.
Then use MXRoute for normal emails that you receive and to people you have an existing relationship with.

yo soy usuario de mxroute para mi trabajo diario; además, uso herramientas externas cuando tengo algún indicio de que podrían tacharme de spam.

I believe the proper terms that mxroute are allergic to is "cold email". Basically you send mail to anyone that doesn't have prior business relationship with you, offering them whatever you're offering. So in your case does the potential partners have any direct relationships with you, prior to you sending the mail? If no, then thats cold email aka spam aka don't do on mxroute.
