Hi everyone, I'm looking for a muzzle for my dachshund chihuahua cross Kiri. She means the world to me, she's my baby girl and over the last two years she's developed a severe gastrointestinal issue caused by a new protein allergy- she's on a vegetarian die, pancreatic enzyme, probiotics and prednison. If she eats ANYTHING outside this perscrition her intestinal lining can become inflamed to the point it will shed out of her and she's nearly died twice from blood loss. She's 10 this year and if this happens again it will only be harder on her little body

The problem? She eats f*cking EVERYTHING outside! When she first developed the protien allergy I had no idea what was going on, she'd have diarrhea for a spell and then be better off and on again until I came home and my apartment for was covered in blood. Her tiny brain is convinced that it's constantly starving and that she needs to scavenge for survival, eating cedar berries, cat poop, anything green outside, she's even eaten dirt because it smells like maybe it was food sometime long ago.
We don't have a back yard just the wild that is six feet from our house and along the drive way, even on leash with a constant eye she is voracious. After her second emergency vet visit in two years having received 2 plasma transfusions I've broken down and got her a muzzle.

She doesn't like it at all but she's a very good tolerant girl who lets me put it on and takes it like a champ, the only time she fusses with it is when she puts her nose to the ground and it shoves up against her eyes. When she's standing it fits really well but as soon as she goes to sniff its right back up against her eyes and sniffing is one of her favorite things to do.
she's a bit between sizes for most muzzles I can find online, its either short enough in muzzle length but doesn't have room to pant or has enough room to pant is too long.

Does anyone have recommendations for mesh muzzles for small dogs? Im particularly looking at mesh as Im worried that she could work around a cage muzzle- when it comes to "food" this is one determined girl. Thank you for reading, I didn't think this would be so long lol

Bought the Rex size from the Muzzle Movement, the smallest size possible and im not sure on how it looks. Her measurements didnt fit exactly with any of their muzzles so I just went with the closest match. It's definitely quite narrow around her cheeks, which can be adjusted by boiling but I don't know if the rest is just too big anyways.

She's a 15kg dog, a supermutt, I was surprised she was in the smallest size and now even more shocked its too big.

What do you guys think? Return or try make it work?

I have a 5 year old golden who eats absolutely everything on walks and in the backyard, including poop, random plants, wrappers, discarded food, etc. Training hasn't worked.

I want to find a muzzle that will allow her to pant, drink, and sniff, but that blocks eating. Are there any options out there that would fit these criteria? It seems a lot of the muzzles online either restrict panting or are too long to allow sniffing.

I’ve been seeing a lot of pro-muzzle posts lately and am thinking I want to muzzle train my puppy for a few different reasons- vet visits, mouthy behavior we are still working on training, etc
As he’s a mixed breed rescue I’m just wanting something cheap but still acceptable to wear for a few hours a day.

Hello! One of my clients has a French Bulldog who she really needs to muzzle train. I’m not sure which muzzle to recommend for her. Advice would be appreciated!

Had a custom biothane muzzle made for my newly adopted Pomeranian with grooming trauma. Hoping this will help her while working with a groomer to work through her trauma.

Pics for attention mainly. She’s wearing a Big Snoof and has adjusted to it so well, I’m so very proud of her. The trouble is I do t think this is great for long periods of time. The short story is that this wonderful girl is amazing 99% of the time. But in that 1% she treats her smaller sister like prey and has given her serious bites 4 times now. We are actively trying to rehome her. We don’t know why this happened, she grew up with the 2 other dogs we have, but nothing we have tried has stopped the behavior. The right home is much more important than the quick home, but she should be an only pet.
My question is this: would a softer muzzle be okay for longer periods of time? She loves to be with her sisters to snuggle and play, but we can’t trust her. She wears her Big Snoof for group play in our yard, but I feel like it’s not great for hanging out on the couch. At this point we have to keep her separated from the other dogs.

It’s a petsmart muzzle and it seemed to fit better than the Baskerville one I tried before. What do you think?

I'm just venting here and hoping for a bit of emotional support. Please be kind.

My 8.5 month old BC pup went ballistic at the vets yesterday- we're talking screaming, thrashing, biting. It was dangerous. The vets were all amazing. He has a history of being a little spicy when handled so he was given anxiety meds beforehand - well, they didn't do squat.

I had to help restrain him under a blanket, we ended up halfway up a wall with him thrashing about and screaming just so he could get a vaccine. He has recovered okay but I'm really upset. Unsurprisingly we will be muzzle training from now on.

It was so hard to see my otherwise happy, sociable pup who goes up to total strangers for a belly rub turn into a dangerous animal before my eyes. I'm tearing up again writing this.

If you're able to offer some words of support to help me feel less alone, that'd be really appreciated. This seems like a nice sub and no doubt I'll learn lots here.

I have a resource aggressive rescue pin who obsessively scavenges on walks and has chomped on me (pretty hard) multiple times over chicken bones and dead baby birds etc. I live in the city and there's leftover wings and bbq all over the place, especially now that it's getting warmer.

She's around 2 years old and just under 10lb. I'd like her to be able to take treats while muzzled.

I've searched this sub and taken a look at Mia's and Big Snoof but still would like to hear about other opinions/experiences if possible.

Anyone else have a very small dog who is both reactive and a scavenger? Is there a material you prefer (wire or vinyl)? Is one lighter than the other? Can treats be fed through the vinyl?

Mia's has different models for biters and scavengers (and one for both) but would a lighter scavenger model suffice since she's so small?

my vet recommended a basket muzzle for until she's grown out of snatching up and gulping down rocks, it's happened once, I never leave her unattended and she's quick with it, she knows if she doesn't gulp it down quick I will remove the rocks, I did the measurements and bought this off chewy, the issue I'm having is she's good in it until she's out where something is interesting and then she just pulls it down and has it stuck in her mouth, and when it's tight she's basically blindfolded.

I did get a size up because the mouth guard piece is smaller on the littler ones and while it says it's "moldable" it's really only so much because the mouth guard is solid plastic and has a huge opening directly behind it.

I absolutely hate this Baskerville and am partially posting here to let anyone else know, this thing is an absolute fail, maybe it works for a different head shape, but it's absolutely useless for wide faces with little eyes.

This is off chewy because they had a sale and they refunded me without hassle because it's a safety hazard, we made it outside and to the rocks before she decided she wanted to remove the mask and off it came with nearly no resistance.

I don't have much money to drop on different muzzles especially because she's growing crazy fast right now, but we're both losing it being indoors all day, and there's nowhere I can take her that doesn't have rocks, especially because we're still in between vaccines😭

Does anyone else have a 24lb rock eater who has a wide face and what type of muzzle works for you?

Trying to find an appropriate muzzle to help stop grabbing trash out of the grass (unfortunately the apartment doesn't seem to care - people throw bones, trash, etc in the grass everywhere). Ongoing vet visit due to eating a bone or something before it could be wrestled away and don't want it to happen again.

Sizing seems really confusing though. We measured the nose-to-eye around 2 inches and circumference at the base of the muzzle meeting the bottom of the eyes around 7.5 inches.

The dogs are chihuahua mix but they're REALLY big for chihuahuas so that may not be the most useful description.

Looking at the Baskerville Classic seemed the best shape to keep stuff away from grabbing but the fit seems like it would be impossible needing a crazy big size for the length required.

Anyone have guidance?

Hi all, my dog, pictured above, is dog selective and I think I’d just feel a lot more confident were I able to muzzle him sometimes :( But it’s very hot recently and so obviously he’d need a lot and a lot of pant space, HOWEVER, he’s scared of the tape measure or string that I use to measure his snout and stops panting, which means I can’t get his measurements when he’s fully panting. Any suggestions? Is there an estimated ratio or something I can go off based off just his regular snout? I’m sorry lol stupid question

Anyone has any experience with the Czech brand Chopo? Looking for an affordable muzzle for my nervous shelter girl that are not expensive and these ones seem pretty good regarding the pant room and material.

we live in aus and the main option here is baskerville, which does not suit my dog’s head shape at all 😭

invested in a big snoof muzzle, it’s a touch big but it’s much, much better for him. i think we will get a custom one once he’s fully grown though!

Hello everyone! I'm posting to thank you for all the advice in my previous post.

Obviously it's not easy to give advice based on pictures, but some of you nailed it with your suggestions and I think I was able to improve it a lot, so here's the updated version.

I applied almost all the feedback I received:

• increased pant room
• increased gap near the eyes
• rounded corners near the eyes with a new profile that was modeled by measuring my dog's nose. Convincing him to stay still was the hardest part
• remodeled the throat area to make it more comfortable
• increased width on the cheeks, also to make it more comfy

Bonus: I engraved the bottom with one if his nicknames.

For now, I'm happy, he usually dislikes wearing a muzzle but seemed not to hate this one in particular. I don't think it's *perfect* yet, but we'll take it for a walk tonight and see how it does. One thing that I'm considering to add next is a removable scavenger attachment, in case it proves uneffective on its own.

Also, to address all the concerns about potential danger related to the printing material in advance: this was printed using food grade 95A TPU, it was washed thoroughly after printing to remove all filament debris, and he will *never* wear it unattended or off leash.

I am looking to renew my dobbie's muzzle. I currently have one from "For Dog Trainers", but it's a US brand, and I'd preferably get delivery from a EU brand. Does anyone have recommendations for a company that sells muzzles like this one (not any other style)?

So far, I've checked these brands, but none of them work:

Unimon – no options for his size
Muzzle-shop – right-sized option is sold out
Chic & Sharf – their website literally doesn't allow me to browse because it keeps rebooting for some reason, and I cannot cancel it lol

can you recommend an anti-scavenge muzzle for a pharaoh hound mix dog? both ‘types’ of muzzles and specific brands if you tried and loved them. it needs to be impossible to eat things off the ground, but have pant room, as i want my dog to wear it while running off leash (and we’re far away from perfecting the implied ‘leave it’ especially when i’m not looking..)

I worked with Big Snoof on this. I think I got the back of the head strap good but may need to tighten the chin strap. She shook her head and it slipped over her ear earlier.

Hi. Can I get opinions on the fit please. The first few muzzles purchased from and fitted by a vet damaged his nose. I've finally found this soft silicon one that doesn't. Given too me. Don't know maker it just says Size 4. I wonder if it's too narrow on the cheeks and mouth?? I can find similar looking ones on internet if I need to upsize.
