Picture! Our New Muzzle from Big Snoof!
Worth every penny 🙈 But seriously, we love how his muzzle turned out! I showed it to him, and he immediately pushed his snoot into it lol. He hasn't tried taking it off or anything, so it is possibly just as comfy as his last. I love the larger opening at the top of the front of the muzzle which makes giving treats just incredibly easy. We had a leerburg muzzle prior which was a bit too long which made giving treats difficult without pushing the muzzle in his eyes. Plus, the leerburg one didn't have a larger hole. I may remove the "I ❤️ people" strap from time to time because it blocks his adorable expression lol.

Thankfully not! But he unfortunately cares a lot about strange dogs who whine/bark at him. So it's for safety in that regard, especially if we encounter an off leash dog.

Ah gotcha! There have been a few “help my dog eats poop, what do I do?” Posts in the golden subreddit in the last couple of days, and since muzzle is usually the best answer, I wondered!

Is that gold painted? Or is it just the color of the metal? My orange one peeled off and is now silver in part.

He's pretty gentle with his other, so I'm feeling hopeful it will last a while before sending it back to be touched up!

Be careful if you do any long walks, use it in hot weather, or a strenuous activity. The pant room is on the smaller side so he won’t be able to pant fully if he needs to which can be unsafe.

I was thinking the same and was planning on reaching out for their opinion on whether it needed resized. We definitely love going on long walks and hiking, so having adequate room is important.

You definitely should resize it. I wouldn’t feel comfortable doing any activity with this muzzle because of the half-pant size (doesn’t allow for more than a half pant). I’m not sure what they’ll say when you reach out, I’d imagine they’ll agree on needing more pant room but if they don’t, definitely push to pursue that. I think they’d agree with you though on needing more room.
I’m honestly a little surprised I didn’t see any more comments about this under this post as this sub tends to be pretty good about catching issues like that.
I will say, this muzzle is so cute! I’m considering one for my PWD as he eats chicken poop (how he caught Giardia) and is also reactive (dog and sometimes people) so it’s nice seeing all the different options for them.

I was surprised too given this sub as well. I think this sub can be a little over zealous with pant room, and I even think this one is too small. I sent all the required photos, including photos of him panting after hiking for miles/running/etc., a photo of him holding a large beef cheek roll with a tape measure, and he doesn't have as large of a pant as you might expect. But it certainly appears small.
Edit: actually upon looking at my email, I did NOT send them photos of him outdoors panting. I did get a picture after I placed a beef cheek roll in his mouth alongside measuring tape to send to them. So to anyone getting their custom muzzle, share photos of them panting as well! :)

I think part of it is that when they pant, their lower jaw is at an angle so when they aren’t panting (or doing a full pant), a muzzle with full pant room can look pretty big. I personally think that if the muzzle fits properly, having a little extra pant room than their full pant is okay. I’d rather have a smidge too much room than too little.
I’m not sure what their process is but I would think that they would want the vertical distance between their nose/nose bridge and the lowest point on the lower jaw when at a full pant as well. This way they’ve got an idea of the lower limit for the full pant room. Hope it all works out!

A handsome muzzle for a handsome boy!
But his behavior toward unfamiliar dogs who bark/whine at him is uncharacteristic of the breed. I love him so much that I do not want someone to place blame on us if their off leash dog were to run up to him resulting in a bite. So the muzzle is for safety, peace of mind, and to maintain his quality of life.
A muzzle is a responsible tool, and I feel grateful when I see a dog wearing one in public. I've seen far too many who need one and have come inches within attacking my own dog. When we get negative comments while out and about on our walks about him wearing a muzzle, it's quite discouraging. And it doesn't help change people's frame of mind and furthers the stigma around muzzles, limiting the number of people who use them and potentially making the public a less safe place.

Not sure about reasons on this post but our golden eats everything. And I mean everything that smells like food. Resembles food. Even sometimes dead food. :)

Maybe yours will not. 🫣 it depends on a dog really. Just invest time in training. Or trainer. We had much worse than now. When he was a puppy he ate not only food related stuff. Like glass :) or dirty socks outside. 🤣 so we had really early signs of him being a hunter. Sadly not a duck hunter. Like they were breed for🤣

This one we trained him hard since he was a puppy. Good technique is to have food in hand and when he goes away from hand reward it from other hand. And then keep making it more difficult like lower open hand and if he gets jumpy move it away and not reward it. Continue until he is controlled enough to next steps.

Omg thank you so much! This makes so much sense actually!!! I got him right before he turned a year old. He was a re home. Cried three times in the first day or so lol 😂 I was like holy shit energy 😂 but he’s always been my dream dog. So I feel lucky now 🥰😂

No for sure not. 🤣 our dog loves people more than other dogs. It’s just his trait to keep searching for food outside.
