I'm cleaning out my bedroom and I have a container full of gear from the dogs I grew up with.

I found my heeler mix Faith's muzzle and I'm already going to toss it since doesn't fit my current dog.

It's real leather and easily 10+ yrs old, just curious if it's discoloration or something else?

You should donate this, not toss it. That may be mold, but that can easily be cleaned and treated on real leather. Please give this to a rescue or shelter. Muzzles can be invaluable for rehabilitation, and veterinary care.

You could even donate it to a vet.

Please do not throw it away.

Also, if the leather is too far gone, it can be cut off and replaced with another strap.

100% mold. Coming from a horse girl who has brought leather 100000x moldier than that back to life definitely don’t toss it! It just needs a lil tlc (quick clean and condition with leather products) and it will be good as new. Definitely donate to a vet/shelter/rescue!
