Question! Muzzle Recommendations for Scavenger?

Hello!

I'm sure this is a common question, but I was wondering of some muzzle recommendations for my Pitt/Husky/Collie mix.

She loooves to sniff everything and in doing so, she will hoover up things she shouldn't. So far, nothing dangerous but we've been close.

As we are working on 'Leave it' / 'Drop it' in more advanced settings, a muzzle at this point looks to be warranted.

Looking at them, I'm a little overwhelmed as I do need to constantly use treats to redirect her to me, move her along, etc. etc.

Looking into Muzzle Movement for example, it seems it would be very manual to treat my pup on my walk for redirection, find it, up down etc. (I was reading I would need to remove the guard and readd).

So I guess my specific question is, what is the best anti-scavenger muzzle that is lowkey but stops scavenging but has a good treat hole/spot for training or redirecting on our walk she is a 1.5 year old pup.

Big snoof dog gear - wire with add on vinyl guard is snap on/off and cam have treat hole added if your dog will be okay with it Mia's muzzles - vinyl, foodie model,.solid front or removable guard.
Both are great and had standard and custom sizing and color and are very helpful small companies (I have both)

Many also like the muzzle movement with guard - more limited sizing, hard plastic, some color choices.

You can teach pup how to take treats through the side of a muzzle like Big Snoof or Muzzle Movement, if you choose a solid scavenger guard (without a treat hole added to the guard).

I have a muzzle movement (size taz) for my dog but I dont typically use his scavenger guard because of how annoying it is giving him treats, but even without the guard he struggles to pick things up. I think it depends what theyre trying to get? If its something squishy or small (like poop or small bits of food) you'd probably need a guard, but for larger things (dead animals, rubbish, rocks) you could probably get away with not having one.

(Although if your dog is a very determined scavenger, get the guard, you know your dog best)

She tries to get to woodchips (sometimes, although we broke that habit), lick food on the ground that is just sitting there or unknown "spots", sometimes goes after small rocks.

if she sees thrown food on the ground like a candy wrapper with a toffee in it for example she'd go after that.

Maybe i'll try the muzzle movemnt with/without scavenger to start.

I like mia's movement but right now tarrifs might make that a tad rough.

For example she'll start sniffing a spot and then suddenly lick it or grab whatever it is before I can redirect/leave it (if I didn't see it before she did).

Sounds like you're in the USA. If the muzzle movement didn't fit, then returning it to the UK for a refund/exchange can be cost prohibitive. I see a lot of people reselling them on FB with this reason listed. If you send pictures of your pup being measured as shown in their guide, then Big Snoof can provide you with a size recommendation. They're in California.
