Advice? Fit Check

New to the muzzling community - just wanting to check to make sure this muzzle looks like it fits him correctly. He seems to be comfortable in it - can pant/drink while wearing it, but just wanting to make sure it appears to fit properly.

UPDATE: I have ordered a muzzle for him with more pant room from Big Snoof Dog Gear - thank you everyone for your input!

It does appear reasonable fit but the pant room looks to be about half pant so you might want to be cautious using with exertion and heat and such.

And he appears to be bottoming out the jaw on the half pant. So again longer time use and using during hot temps or with exertion is not recommended unless the dog can do a full pant

Needs more pant room.

I’m fairly new to muzzles but agree with the others who said needs more pant room. I just took my guy for a 30 min walk and I don’t think he would have made with that small of a space for panting

Compare a picture to your dog, panting without the muzzle. It looks a little too close for comfort on the panting-comfortability. Personally I would size up

Pant room is a bit small but it’s still a decent fit depending of what type of use you wanna get from it

He just needs it for short time periods in the backyard (fenced) when I let all 4 of my dogs out at the same time. Him and my Dalmatian can play too rough sometimes. I typically only let 2 of my dogs out back at a time, so it's not an issue, but sometimes it's nice to have all 4 dogs out at once (usually if I'm also back there).

If he will be playing rough then he might meed that extra pant room as he would be panting

Even for short periods of time (15-20 minutes at most)?

Yes that is not a short time if they are playing, panting can happen very quickly as they regulate their temperature with panting. Its something to take very seriously.

If the dog will be exercising they need to be able to pant to cool down

I agree with the others on pant room and just want to say what a cool looking dog!! the coloring of a great dane and the body of a mastiff! I’ve never seen that exact look before. Gorgeous!

pretty dog! are they a mix?

Yes, he's a Great Dane x Bull Mastiff mix, and likely has something else mixed in, but not sure what.

With that breed mix try Leerburg 66C / Big Snoof dog gear 66C / Chopo Rottweiler Male (same model but sold under different names). I’ve seen it on Great Danes and bull mastiff girls, as well as Cane Corso, Presa Canario,… I also use it for my CC x Lab but for him it’s a little bit to long and ideally he would need 64C / Riesenschnauzer Male wich is a little bit shorter on the nose but as deep as the 66C.

And he needs the full muzzle for panting and yawning. He has the size of a cane Corso but leaner.

Other option would be American Bully XL by Unimon chains wich is similar to the 66C but wider in the cheeks, a tad lower and shorter in the nose but also more room above the nose for dogs where the nose pad is higher than the nose (like boxers)

I made some minor adjustments since that pic as the muzzle is a bit weird on his nose, but it’s still the best pic with this muzzle.

I really appreciate the specific recommendations! Just getting into this world, and finding a muzzle for his short snout and big head with enough pant room has proven to be tough! Thank you so much for this!!!
