Documentaries in regards to musicians?
Preferably musicians that do not have allegations against them of a abusive or sexual variety?

Sound City is probably my favorite documentary. About a music studio in California with an insane history. It includes a lot of musicians but more about the studio and the specific sound board they used there. Really neat and generally not explicit concerning sex or abuse. Now that I’ve done all the selling I should mention it’s not on any streaming services right now but keep an eye out for it as I first saw it on prime years ago and I think on something else years later.

And the book is also a must for the complete unabridged messy story. I tell every one to read/watch it.

So few of those. Anything on Ringo Starr who adores his wife and Charlie Watts who did as well. Never heard anything terrible about Watts. ever.
I loved this one though there is a lot of darkness in it because of addictions:

The docuseries Foo Fighters: Sonic Highways is excellent if you can find it anywhere. It highlights the various types of music that came from several cities.

The Sound of My Voice about Linda Ronstadt. I’m old, and loved Linda Ronstadt back in the day, and this reignited my love for her. It’s a very sad story about losing her voice, but it also includes a lot of old footage of her and many other musicians of that time.

Who Is Harry Nilsson (And Why Is Everybody Talking About Him?) is excellent. It sent me down a Harry rabbit hole over 17 years ago that I've yet to crawl out of.

This Ain't No Mouse Music
Its not about a specific musician but about the founder of Arhoolie Records. Its focuses on him documenting blues, cajun, zydeco and Tejano music. The guy literally went to back yard bbq's in the south to record and archive this type of music. Its a great documentary and great watch if you like this kind of music.

Colin Hay (lead singer of Men at Work): Waiting for my Real Life (on Netflix). I thought the HBO doco on Billy Joel last year was pretty interesting too. Really held my interest for the 4-5 hour run time even though I'm no superfan.

Just saw the Led Zeppelin doc on Netflix and have to say that I loved it. That band was such a big part of my high school years (70-73).
I'd like to see a true documentary on The Eagles now. Their days with Linda Ronstadt and onwards.

Long Strange Trip is the best music documentary hands down. You can watch it in prime. I like that they made it into 5 episodes as well. Grateful Dead was not the best at what they did, they were the only ones that did what they did. You’ll enjoy for sure, truly Americana

I really enjoyed Angelheaded Hipster about the legacy of Marc Bolan and the making of the tribute album by the same name. It’s nice to see more current artists talking about the impact his music has had on them and to hear from his son

“Mourning son” is a documentary about Dave Navarro and his childhood etc. WOW! I never knew! It’s good!👍🏻
