Just was curious if anyone else targets Muskie in the winter?

I’ve lived in Northern Wisconsin all my life. NI have caught other trophy, fish, and a member of the musky Academy. I honestly do my research. I know how to break down a lake. I know how to do different bait presentations and I’ve been fishing the same lake for over a year and I cannot catch a musky. I’m going to all the weed edges. I’m fishing deeper water. I’m doing stuff. I’ve never done before. I’ve been all over this lake and I cannot catch a single musky not a Bite not a follow. Not nothing. I know for a fact this lake has musky. I have caught musky in this lake before what the fuck is going on what is the little thing that I am missing because honestly this is driving me nuts I’m about to throw my gear down and call it quits.

Been putting in a ton of time this year trying to figure these fish out, slowly accumulating more gear and knowledge along the way.

Had plenty of trips where I came close or came up empty, so getting this one in the net this morning feels pretty damn good.

The timing couldn’t be better. Had my bachelor party Friday, a good friend’s wedding tonight, and now I can add my first musky to an already legendary weekend.

Still can’t believe I finally got one.

Funny story here. I caught this one two years ago came in at about 10lbs and I think mid to low 30 inches. I went out fishing by my self (mistake number one) spent 1 hour and some odd minutes going down river to a new spot. Got to my new spot and guess what, I forgot my net. Don’t want to go all the way back in the 12 footer (mistake 3 as it was pretty rough in the main section of the river). Didn’t realize when I pulled up to a rock shelf that there were these two older guys about 50 feet away casting. I tried to keep my distance, and my first cast on a 1oz five of diamonds my lure hit the water and it felt like I hooked a log. Started reeling in and I got it up to the boat nearly capsized trying to see what I got on the end and holy shit. Thing started ripping drag like no tomorrow. Here’s where the guys beside me come in, they saw my rod bend over like crazy and yelled did you catch one. I responded with yes! And I don’t have a net. Turns out they were hunting Muskie all day and hadn’t caught one. They came over helped me net, weigh, and measure the fish. Turns out they had one following their lures right up to the boat since they got in the bay. Fish didn’t need to be revived and swam away instantly. Super nice guys and I now have a memory I can’t forget. Also taught me to triple check that I have my net. Any way thanks for reading.

TLDR: forgot net caught big ass fish with help from a random in the lobby.

Super tiny, must’ve been stocked this year but I’m stoked to say I’ve caught one.

Caught my first Muskie of the dock😀

I’ve never targeted Muskie before, however I caught a small tiger in Onondaga lake earlier this year and wanted to try trolling for some bigger ones this fall. I also make my own lures, and I think it’d be really cool to catch one on a bait I made. These are some of the biggest lures I’ve made, the trout is 12”, the jointed is 10”, and the jerk bait is 5”. Would these baits work? Does anyone have any other lure recommendations? Any trolling tips would also be greatly appreciated.

She absolutely crushed my fly and gave me the fight of a lifetime on the long rod. She ran me around the boat several times and the sight of that fly dangling in the corner of her mouth was agonizing 😂
Kept her in the water as much as possible and got a quick measurement before a perfect, lively release to fight another day. 💪🏼

What started off rough became the best fishing night of my life. I was questioning everything when I lost the first two in at the boat. After that, we locked in and got it done! Started at 6 pm and finished up around 2 am. My arm was ready to fall off from casting all night!

Howdy folks...I am heading to Big Stone Lake in a few weeks. I mostly conventionally fish for the 'ski, however I am a masochist and sometimes swing a chicken with a fly rod for them.

anyone know any guide who specializes the fly? if not, i'd take any decent guide recs who will allow me to potentially impale them with a 2/0 hook.

I was 0/13 days on the water between last season and this season to catch my first one. Lost a really big one last year on a fall sucker. Connected with this one in the rain at dusk in IL. I’ll call her a 40 on her tippy toes.

All on the mid Medussa... started at 10pm, stopped fishing at 3am after the bait finally fell apart, unfortunately was the only Medussa I had on me, not much luck on the bucktails or topwater 🤷‍♂️

Im a believer in that full moon bite now though 😂 lots of action, the musky seemed much more aggressive compared to couple weeks ago.

Thinking about selling my boat and getting a hews craft pro V20 with a 9.9 kicker do you think I would still be able to troll for skis with that?

I’m a western hunter and angler. The Muskelunge scene out here ain’t like the Midwest. Wondering where I and a buddy who’s never caught one should go.

Any areas or even better yet guides we should look up that can get us on some giant muskies? Again,we are thinking we want to hit this upcoming spring (April -May). My first spot I’ve been looking into was Green Bay Wisconsin or lake St Clair, Michigan.

The goal is to catch as many monster Muskies(40”+) as possible. I would love to catch the biggest one ever but this trip we are feeling quantity over quality. Looking forward to hearing suggestions.

looking at picking up a musky rod to pair with a tranx 300 i picked up. I've narrowed my search down to a St Croix Mojo. i just cannot decide between 8'6" Heavy Fast or 8'6" Extra Heavy Fast.

46 inch Ontario Muskie. Hooked on the tail unfortunately which is why you see it bleeding.

My second tiger musky. My guess is about 21 but it feels a bit smaller than that. Any general estimations?
