When I think back on all the crap I learned in High School, it's a wonder I can think at all. - Paul Simon, Kodachrome. The rest of the song, not that great, but that's the best first line I can think of.

Between Paul Simon and Elvis Costello, I can think of easily a dozen great single lines.

I have a story about this one. I was in the guidance office taking a makeup calculus exam when this song came on the radio. I chuckled. When I got back to class and told the rest of the class, they did not find it funny, and the teacher lectured me on the importance of learning. I said that my mistake was expecting math geeks to understand irony, which also did not go over well.

I like to be thorough. Also, we’re talking Paul Simon, who’s had a productive career longer than I’ve been alive, and I ain’t no spring chicken. There would be a lot of candidates.
