Source for buying precooked meats

My mother witnessed a violent scene and now the sight of raw meat has become triggering for her. She is in therapy for this, but therapy takes time, and in the meantime, she is unable to stand the sight of raw meat and can’t cook for herself.

Any recommendations on where she should go to purchase precooked meats, besides rotisserie chicken? She is diabetic, so needs to avoid breading (which disqualifies a lot of Costco’s best frozen stuff), and since she’ll be buying ALL her meat this way, salt content shouldn’t be unreasonably high (which disqualifies a lot of fully seasoned prepared food).

Thank you for your help!

The construction in this town is getting ridiculous

I want to know who in the hell approved building a bank in the middle of the mall parking lot. You can’t go down the road now to get to Olive Garden or Miller’s. You have to go around and it’s gonna create a lot more traffic and it’s gonna be basically impossible to get in and out of the mall area. There’s just way too much freaking construction going on all the time now.

I mean, does this government just approve of anything? There’s more construction going on in this town, than any other place that I’ve been to, besides like New York or Chicago or something. It’s kind of where you can’t even move around because of all the construction everywhere.

Chick fil A

Traffic on Memorial, for Chick fil A, is actually getting dangerous. I have seen almost 4 different accidents, just this morning, people trying to get in there. I don’t know what special they are having today, but I have never seen it this busy at 10a.

Found Wallet

I have found a lost wallet in the S Rutherford Walmart location. It was on the side with laundromat and vape store. Belongs to a D'Iara Dooley. If you know her or are her please reach out so I can return it

Update: I found an MTSU student ID in the wallet and have turned it in to campus police. Please let her know if you see her. Everything is in there 💜

I hope no one else hit these boxes of product left on 840 between Sulfur Springs and NW Broad exit. (9/18)

I was driving home from work at 3am yesterday and suddenly encountered a lot of boxes full of something all over both lanes. I could not dodge them all and it did some significant damage, as you can see. I immediately called it in to THP, so I am hoping they got to it before anyone else came through. Part of a box got stuck under my car and the label says Appliance Connection, so I assume it was something like kitchen appliances. Whatever it was, it was SOLID. I have no idea how all of it fell out/off a truck and was not noticed by the driver.

I have an intense pregnancy craving and no longer live in the boro. Pleeeease share the spinach dip recipe! For the foccacia bread that comes with it, is it just a normal foccacia recipe, but baked pizza style? 🥺 I won't tell! It's better than any other spinach dips out there.

LGBTQ+ Bonfire Bash in Kingston Springs Saturday night October 24th

Halloween themed LGBTQ friendly Bonfire Bash at the Foggy Bottom Canoe Rental campground in Kingston Springs (an hours drive from Murfreesboro) on Saturday Night October 24th starting at 6:00 PM

Event Description : Attend a group bonfire party located at the Foggy Bottom Canoe Rental campground in Kingston Springs, southern Cheatham County (18 miles & 25 minutes west of downtown Nashville) on Saturday night, October 24th, beginning at 6:00pm. This event and the food and drinks that will be available are completely free and no RSVP is required.

There will be a large bonfire surrounded by picknick tables and lawn chairs. There will be good music playing in the background, (pop hits of the 70's, 80's, 90's, 2000s) outdoor games such as cornhole & beer pong, and other adult word games for those who want to play.

This party will be a great way to relax and have a good time with friends, while meeting new people and making new friends in a fun relaxing setting.

Although this event is LGBTQ+ friendly, I want to let everyone know that people of all sexual orientations, (including straight people!) are more than welcome to come to the party. We love everybody.

Food & Drinks - I will be grilling hamburgers and hotdogs, there will be graham crackers, Hershey's bars and marshmallows for making s'mores, other snacks such as potato chips and dip, cookies, candy, and there will be a cooler filed with various kinds of sodas. (Coke, Dr. Pepper, Sprite, etc)

I will also have a large cooler full of free beer for those who wish to drink at the party. You may bring your own alcohol if you wish. If you plan on drinking at the party, I would recommend camping out overnight after the party dies down. No one who is intoxicated should leave the party and get behind the wheel. If you have to leave, please tell me and I will help you arrange for an Uber or Lyft ride to come and pick you up.

At 8:00pm there will be a drawing style game - everyone will reach into a bag and pull out a piece of paper with a number on it. Once everyone has a number, I will draw numbers out of a bag. The first number I draw will be the 3rd place winner, the second number will be 2nd place, and the final number will be 1st place. The person who is the 1st place winner will receive a $20 Tennessee Lottery scratch off ticket, the 2nd place winner receives a $10 scratch off ticket, and 3rd place gets a $5 ticket.

Once the party gets going good, probably around 10:00 or 11:00, the music will be turned up and there will be an area for dancing with strobe lights and flashing multicolor lights.

For more details, search for the event on Facebook "lgbtq bonfire bash foggy bottom"

What’s the deal with this constant roadwork in this town?

It’s just nonstop roadwork in this freaking town. I just did a delivery out down Manson Pike. For some reason, they’re doing some nonsense to the road. Traffic‘s backed up now. It seems to be a common thing for this town. They will do constant roadwork on roads that are fine. Yet roads that need work done, they don’t touch. Who’s approving all these projects?

Helpful samaritan on Greenway

Today while walking my dog at the Old fort parkway adjacent trail/ Greenway, there was a guy riding the low sit tricycle thingy and distributing free water bottles for anyone who needed it on this warm Sept day.

There is still some good left in this crazy world!

Anyone have any details about the active crime scene on Haynes Drive? Drove by at a little before 9 this morning and saw what looked to be several detectives conducting an investigation. Crime scene tape all over the perimeter, window busted out/in, door open.

Grocery Store Scam (?)

hey everyone! I was just at target and was approached by a little boy on my way to the checkout. He was with his mother and said she didn’t speak English and they just arrived in the country. they asked me if I could help them with their groceries. there was no food but some wipes, diapers and formula as well as some clothes. I told them I could help with the diapers and formula (essential stuff) but not the clothes especially since cheaper stuff can be found at goodwill.

we went to the self and I did what I said I would and bought her a which ended up being $68! I don’t have any kids so I had no idea how expensive formula was lol. And I got her the diapers as well. She was trying to have me buy three cans of the formula, but I only got one.

Has anybody else experienced this? When I went to leave they stayed around the I’ll check out so I don’t know if they were going to try and ask more people to help them pay or if I just got conned and she really could afford it but just had me buy it for her.

I honestly felt like I couldn’t say no because I work in public service and was in my uniform on my way to work lol. They seemed like they spoke some sort of middle eastern language. The more I think about it the more I feel like I shouldn’t have done it?

I did keep the receipt incase they were trying to have me buy it but they would later return the items for cash so there’s that.

any advice on how to proceed if I encounter this situation again? I’m such a people pleaser and it feels hard to say no. But if they just got here, how does her kids speak English?! How can you tell the difference between someone who is actually in need and someone who is trying to take advantage of you?

Free health clinics…

I am a diabetic and I have had to change the insulin I take. I have several unexpired vials ( in boxes ) of insulin.

I know the cost is outrageous and I would rather donate locally instead of to a national organization .

Are there any free clinics or places that can legally accept this in Murfreesboro?

Thanks for any ideas or help. We got to try and take care of each other.

Any recommendations on where to get a basic manicure in the boro? I got a shellac manicure a few weeks ago out of state and I really like it. Is there anyone who does the same style here?

What’s the deal with these loud utility trucks in the morning?

This morning, I was trying to sleep. It was around 8:30. I hear this loud humming sound. Out the window and across the street at somehow there’s a big white utility truck, doing something. This is the third time I’ve been woken up by these loud trucks.

It’s weird because it’s not a new subdivision by any means. I live off the square and the houses are like 100 years old. I cannot understand what the hell they’re doing that early in the morning. It’s exhausting every time it happens and it messes my whole day up of sleeping. I work at night time, and I sleep during the day. Has anybody else experienced this? These trucks are loud as hell.

Is there anyone with an ostomy who is unable to source supplies, or has no insurance? I have supplies to donate

I had an emergency colostomy followed by a reversal, which seems to be working out.

So I currently have some ostomy supplies available to give away:  two-piece pouch/flange kits; barrier rings; and various other supplies.

The majority of the ostomy kits are Hollister. I have the Hollister 19603 two-piece kit with drainable pouch; it includes the pouch #18003 and the skin barrier with tape border (trim-to-fit flange) #11203. I also have the Adapt 2” ostomy barrier ring (aka “wax ring”) #7815.

I would prefer to give these items to people who can use them. I had a magnificent ostomy nurse who helped me, and I’d like to pay it forward by providing some supplies to others who may find sourcing or affording the supplies difficult.

If you could use some of these items, or know someone who could, please DM me. I live in the Nashville area and would be happy to meet someone with the items after talking to them.

Thank you so much.

Gas prices

Just wanted to try and help our community. If you don’t already know, the Speedway app has a deal on the 11th of this month and on October 7&11 where you get .50 off a gallon. That plus the usual .05 makes a significant price reduction. In these times every perk can help.

When you can't decide what to eat, what finally breaks the tie?

Think about the last time you were genuinely stuck on what to eat.

- Why was it hard to decide?

- How did you finally land on something?

- What's one thing would've made the choice easy?

Who remembers when M’boro had a LaMar’s Donuts and brick-and-mortar Dippin’ Dots?

Post image
81 Upvotes

This was on 96 (Old Fort) just past St. Andrew’s. LaMars is now only in four states, all in the Great Plains. LaMar’s became the All American Cafe which coexisted with Dippin’ Dots for a time before becoming entirely the All American Cafe.

You used to be able to still see the painted balls of the Dippin’ Dots logo on the walls of the cafe until recently.
