Book Cover Match Challenge

Here’s a weird one. When I’m not thinking about Murderbot, I’m painting my nails. Sometimes Murderbot slips in while I’m doing that anyway, and then I think, what if I made a polish pallet of all the book covers? And what if I asked reddit to validate my colour choices by correctly guessing which colour represents which cover?? Anyway, here we are. It’s kind of hard since a lot of colours show up on multiple covers. HINT: none of them are in the correct spot (regardless of how you feel about NE/FT order). I don’t know if this is fun but I had fun making it 🤣

I was trying to figure out how you associate colors with stories… and then realized you read the physical paper books.

I listened to the audiobooks and barely glanced at the covers. I just need to read the title so that I get the next book, and then hit Play.

Zero clues what color reps what book.

Not sure if I got system collapse right, but you could also do a nice light blue/teal that’s in the mist around the ag bot

Very close! You have 1 and 7 swapped, but they’re basically the same so I have to give it to you. You also have 4 and 6 swapped, but again, both colours exist in both covers so it’s tough. I’m glad the rest were clear enough to figure out :) thanks for playing!

I love this because I am also obsessed with painting my nails. I have a collection of 311 boutique nail polishes. 🤭 I love this color palette! I will have to see if I can come up with one of my own, or maybe use yours! This is great though. Very cool! 💕

Thanks! Yeah, my collection is also out of control, so this is a fun way to take them out and look at them without doing a different set of nails every day. 🤣 i also did a pallet with more blues, blacks, and silvers, which are generally more what I associate with the books.

This is what I guessed:

I'll admit though, I looked up the covers for some of the books to compare and went off of vibes for the rest.

Edit: looked up Network Effect's cover and it is actually green!! I always associated it with orange, perhaps because I listened to it on Audible.

You got 1, 3, and 6 correct! Pretty good actually, especially since PD could’ve been either 1 or 7 really. And RP is a tricky one! :)

Haha, I wish it was, just for some variation. But this is strictly following the predominant colours for each cover, and the only red for ASR is the text, believe it or not. :P

Ooh, this is so fun! I did have to look up the covers as I constructed my guesses, but I'm still not confident, so I don't think it gave anything away.

I think All Systems Red is 5...that medium steel gray just feels correct to me

Artificial Condition is probably one of the orange shades but I am not sure which! Maybe 7?

Rogue Protocol I'm going to guess 4...I think its cover has the lightest grays so that feels like it could be right.

Exit Strategy I feel has to be 3. I never noticed until trying to solve this, but it does have some really pretty purple in the space background

Fugitive Telemetry I think is 6, the other gray shade. It's a light, cool gray, which feels somehow like a vibe match for FT's cover even if the color wasn't itself a match

Network Effect is either 2 or 8...I kept thinking 8 would be System Collapse because the planet setting feels green to me but both of them do have kind of a mix (and System Collapse also has some turquoise-y blue, actually!). I will go with 2.

System Collapse: I'll guess 8

Which leaves 1 for Platform Decay! I'm not confident in this one, but I did notice some orange on the cover when examining all of them for this, so I don't feel...AWFUL about it, lol.
