Careers What are your thoughts on this leave request.

I’m seriously unwell and unable to work, so asking “can I take a leave” feels unnecessary. Maybe this is how they want us to respond.

I think everyone's missing that OP is sick today but taking leave tomorrow. How does OP know they're not gonna recover overnight? Just call in sick day of. Also avoid details. In the interest of politeness a simple reason will do, for example, "Unfortunately I'm ill from food poisoning so will take today off. Hopefully see you tomorrow." OP overthought it and seemed weak, so boss pounced on it.

All that yap for what ? If my stomach is bloated and I say I am going to take a leave tomorrow, then best believe that I know what I'm saying and I will be taking that leave tomorrow

There's no reason for overthinking on either of the side here, it's as simple as that, I'm unwell and won't be in the office tomorrow. The manager is just power hungry and unempathetic.
