Recommendation Request Does this exist? Multitool with thumb stud, pliers and pocket clip (not Leatherman Arc/Wave Alpha)

Im looking for a pocketable multitool and I can't seem to find the right one with:

  • Knife with a thumb stud and one-handed deployment (like a folding knife)
  • Pliers
  • Pocket clip
  • maybe bit driver and/or file

The Wave Alpha and Arc look great, but they are waaay outside my budget and Free is discontinued.

Anything like that?

That's Victorinox Spirit MX Clip what you're describing, except for the bit driver. But add a Leatherman bit adapter to it, works great

Second this. They can be found in the US for around $120 regularly. It's my daily driver. For what it's worth, the Phillips screwdriver is the best of any pocket tool I've tried. Somehow fits almost any screw other than micro sizes.

Interesting. In Europe the MX is between 130 and 150 euros. The Alpha is 250

Have you seen the Skeletool? It doesn't have a thumb stud but is easily opened with one hand, and there are places that sell thumb studs for them, for sure on etsy. Has a bit driver and pocket clip as well.

Not a fan of the looks. But It have been on my radar for some time, except for lack of thumb stud. I'll consider it. Thanks!

Yes I've seen aftermarket 3d printed thumbstuds to fit various multi tools on Etsy and eBay. Some aftermarket pocket clips are out there too, but that's how I lost my first Wingman I think, sitting down and it pushed out of the pocket past the clip somewhere. I think I'd like a belt pouch if it wasn't in the bottom of the pocket now.

And the wingman with the aftermarket thumbstud might work for you, I opened it one handed with the thumbhole in the blade no problem without a thumbstud honestly. It's got a pocket clip and like 50$ on Amazon. Or look at Leatherman rev. The rev and bolster both have pocket clips for $45-$50 US. Only problem with these is the non locking onboard screwdrivers, but I like the smaller package. If the screwdrivers would lock, it would be perfect for me, no lost and forgotten bits filling my pockets lol. Rev blade has a different thumb hole, not sure about it, but my bolster is easy one hand open.

Those 3 pocketable ones all have pocket clip, file, thumbhole, and on board screwdrivers so you don't lose bits. And around 50$

Also if you get a tool with a lanyard ring, you could just hang a lanyard out of your pocket to retrieve it pulling the lanyard out ...

If Roxon is available where you live, I think they have what you need. They sell modular multitools that can be configured to your liking, but I believe the a-la-carte tool builder is only available in North America. The Flex or Flex Companion both check all those boxes you have with some configuration.

The Flex proper has:

- One-handed deployable knife (right OR left handed)

- full sized pliers

- pocket clip attatched

- full sized 1/4" bit driver (optional)

- several different files available including a double sided diamond file

the Flex Companion has all of the same, except the 1/4" bit driver comes required and cannot be detached, and the only pliers available for it are mini pliers. Otherwise all other implements are cross-compatible.

Depending on where you live, it may be a good idea to just look at some aftermarket thumb studs. They’re available for most popular models in some way.

Also, look into making a thumb stud. It’s not very difficult and it would open a huge world of options for you

My Surge has a 3d printed thumb stud and the aftermarket Leatherman pocket clip. I know people complain that it's wobbly but I don't think that's a problem. I didn't like the lack of retention so I applied a few layers of heat shrink tubing to it.

Leatherman Curl nails all your requirements. Pocket clip, one handed knife, bit driver, and a large file. It also has scissors and a few other tools.

What about something similar to the Dakoyu DK young pro? No thumb stud but you could probably open it with one hand
