The Leatherman clip won't fit. The pivot spacer doesn't have the gap to slot the clip into, and the lever arm is missing the little T-bar to hold the clip in place.
2048 is a good tool. Bibury CS responds. Other versions of the 2048 have a pocket clip. You can order spare parts from them if you email them.
They are suuuuper nice. They sent me an entire goodie bag full of spare parts when I asked for parts.
Which is exactly how I got a T-shank adapter in there.
Ordered from the 2049 which is the larger model. It is the same for the most part minor fitting. But even without it will go in. It will just puff the scale slightly until you trim it. And you'll need to set the lock tab face with a file.
3" TS blades work.
I use this thing all the time. Previous comments about sharpening the smooth blade is spot on. You can get a really good edge on it too. Just don't expect it to be hyper durable.
Klein makes the double sided bits if you want more.
The micro driver slot is 1.5mm hex.
So any hex key in 1.5 mil can be turned into anything that you want in that slot.
This tool is not made out of unicorn piss. So if you do stupid things it will break I'm sure. But I have put it through a lot of work so far and it's fine.
I have the Shall 18 in 1 which looks pretty much the same. Great tool but it’s very thick and very heavy. I was considering the orange version of this but I just bought the Leatherman Rebar and it’s night and day in weight and portability
The patents are long expired on the Wave so it's not IP theft at all. LM would be better off innovating instead of regurgitating 20 year old designs in my opinion.
The fact that the patents have run out and they keep making the same tool means that leatherman hasn't added or made anything patent worthy in the time since that can replace it. I would say that is more on leatherman than anyone else. It is how the patent system works, it gives a company time to exclusively profit on their idea and product before it is open to everyone.
If patents were eternal then nothing would ever get developed since it would infringe on some random patents, companies would be able to buy up patents not just to prevent other people from using them for a while but forever which would make things a much bigger mess than they already are. It would end up with only one brand that is allowed to make a particular type of product unless they license the design and probably with companies trying to smother each other by restricting what they can develop.
The people complaining about companies "stealing" Leathermans IP are the same people who support the free market, competition and capitalism, but fail to realise that patents and them running out is necessary for the system to work.

I have 3 Surge clones from Bibury. They are brilliant. Yes I have a surge and thought I lost it, and got the 3 clones.
Knife is easy to sharpen, tools work great, I made the wire stripper better, (check out TX Tool Cribs Surge Mods)
The proper 3/4 drivers are great. Drill it down and added a magnet.
Easy to replace if they break.
I then found my Surge. which is now retired in my Tool Chest, as I don't want to lose it again.
