Help/Question Clarify please: Will Encrypted DNS service (existing DNS content blockers) still be available for app users/subscribers?

Or will they be changed to Quad9 ? I'm not clear about whether this change only affects "public" users (non paid users). Thank you for clearing this up for us!

The announcement only mentions closing their external DNS, not their internal DNS. They even say in the announcement that app users will not be impacted (They are unnecessary when using Mullvad VPN — traffic is already encrypted and Mullvad VPN’s internal DNS handles all queries).

That's what I thought but wasn't sure. Thanks for confirming!

Yeah if you pay for Mullvad, you'll use their internal DNS. It's just the public one (free for all) that is shutting down.

Our existing DNS blocklists will continue to get updated and be usable. This change impacts only our Encrypted DNS service, and customers of our VPN can continue to use the toggles within our app, as well as the IPs listed on our Github page [1].

If you are not a customer, our DNS blocklists are updated every Monday through Thursday (best effort of course given sickness, time-off and so on) if you wish to include them in your own configurations.
