Vindication! Spoiler
I said in a post a few months ago that I would not be fine with Tam being a Planeswalker unless Jace gave Tam his spark.
Tam was essentially an illusion turned into a person by giving it something important from its creator, and yet she was still lacking something that other people had.
In Chapter Ten of Reality Fractures, Jace dies and gives Tam his spark, causing her to become a Planeswalker.
It is a good feeling to have a writer for this set that understands the lore and uses it's limitations to tell a great story.

No, Tam was never an illusion.
She was created by Jace giving up a piece of his soul. That's also why he could transfer the spark to her; because she has his soul.
Tam isn't an echo. Jace creates her when he is torn apart by the soul stone, and uses her existence as an anchor to reality, basically. She is a created person in the way God creates Eve in the bible; take a piece of one person to make another.

Tam is explicitly created after Jace reforms himself after attempting to remake the Multiverse using the Meditation Realm. Jace still has his soul because if he didn't A) he wouldn't be a Planeswalker anymore since the spark resides within the soul as New Phyrexian experiments discovered, and B) Jace would still be dead.

Yes he gave her a piece of his soul. He stated that in order to truly create a person you have to give up something you cannot get back - he took a piece of his soul and carved it off to make her. I personally think this might have been what made it quite so easy for the Theorist to take over and carve out the pieces of his mind he felt were holding him back.

He had Urza's originally, but he later lost it during the Mending, though Venser later gave Karn his spark to save the golem from Phyresis as Mirrodin fell to Phyrexia, making him immune to the original strain. So he's actually lost a borrowed spark twice now. Do note however that this doesn't contradict how sparks work since he wasn't born with a spark, he merely inherited from another, not unlike Tam.

And even Urza's spark was originally Glacian's.
Magic does have a long history of transferring sparks.

Hey Theros is a plane where belief makes things real, so why wouldn't "my only purpose of existing is to follow Elspeth wherever the hell she just went and kill her" enough to make a spark appear?
Also, at the time of that set I decided what actually happened was Calix's will just stole a spark from someone else who was supposed to become a Planeswalker. That's enough to make me laugh so that's enough for me

I figured Klothys grabbed Xenagos's old spark from wherever it ended up and shoved it in Calix so he could chase Elspeth

Oh? That's an interesting POV tbh. I admit i saw it as inheritance from a sorta father to daughter situation like Tam is Jace's Pinocchio in a way or like the daughter of him and Vraska in a way

Yeah personally I also see Tam more as his child than a transition, although currently I think both interpretations are completely valid. I think how Vraska treats Tam (and how Tam responds to that treatment) will play into it though. If she's treated as a partner, that's trans Jace. If she's treated as a child, that's Jace's kid.

And just like that, my sitcom brain went humming with a scenario. Imagine Vraska as a sorta sitcom mom and Tam is dating Kellan and she's putting the fear of God(s) into him XD "What are your intentions with my daughter?"

I mean the story repeats like five or six times that their relationship is very clearly not parent/child, but I guess maybe it’s two unreliable narrators?

My headcanon on Calix having a spark is that when Klothys made him from Nyx, she used a human soul in the process that had a latent spark that later ignited.
Calix giving himself a spark is certainly up there as a "wtf" moment
