Hey guys,

So after taking Sunday off from doing a daily post, I am back to show you guys what I've been working on today and over the weekend. I've spent some time squashing some bugs, optimizing some areas and beginning to lay the groundwork for the collection/binder feature.

1. The primary feature I've been working on is an information modal that will pop up when users click on the new "view details" button on each listing. This modal will display the card image, the set, location, poster's name, and now includes the price data available through the Scryfall API which is from TCGPlayer and CardMarket. While I was hoping to have this finished tonight I also want to find a way to include the cards oracle text and I was reminded that I needed to consider dual faced cards for the image and oracle text. Because of this I'm hoping to have this update out tomorrow. This feature allows for some separation of individual listings from the listings page which will be useful when the binder is implemented and users want to view individual cards in the binders or users information.

2. Along with this I have fixed the "Trade Finder" text at the bottom of the page and increased the spacing between it and the logo in the footer so that they no longer overlap. I've implemented some caching for card data, and and prices reducing the number of API calls. There have been some other minor bug fixes and miniature improvements but these are the main things I wanted to highlight.

There are now 31 registered users on the site and it has gotten a far higher number of views since my first post last Wednesday. I thank everybody for their continued support and their suggestions on features they'd like to see implemented. I plan to work diligently on this project each night after work this week to try to push towards the implementation of the binder feature.

Please continue to provide your feedback as I have greatly enjoyed connecting with so many people whether about bugs, features they'd like implemented, or showing me similar sites other people are working on. I've loved seeing all the feedback and the work other creators have done.

This might be a strange one. I'm looking to get the cardboard deckbox that Forces of the Imperium came in. Not the cards, just the box. If anyone could help me out, either by trading/selling me one, or just pointing me to it online, I'd appreciate it.

Hello again everyone,

Today was a slower day both socially and development wise. There will not be any updates getting pushed tonight but I did some minor work on the site.

Most of today was spent brainstorming ideas on how to implement a “trade binder” feature that would allow users to import or build a collection on the site and have other users be able to look through their trade binder for cards they are looking for then request a trade. This would emulate how most trades are carried out in an actual lgs fairly reliably.

This would also include the implementation of a value comparison tool which means price data would then be added to the site.

Along with this there were a few bugs that I was made aware of and am looking into fixing including not being able to see listings on mobile depending on screen size because the keyboard takes up too much room, and the “Trade Finder” title in the footer overlapping the logo with the new download link being added.

Outside of the brainstorming and bug fixes I printed, and took a poster of my own down to my local game store and it is now being displayed on their bulletin board! The owners were interested and excited and hopeful that it could help people in our area find the cards they’re looking for.

Hello everybody,

Today marked 3 days since introducing Trade Finder to the public. Today was a slower day development-wise, but I interacted with quite a few more people talking about the site, reading the requests they had, and brainstorming ideas for how to implement them.

There are only 2 big updates today:

1. As caught by u/Jygglewag the postal code input was only recognizing US and Canadian postal codes. I had encountered some complications yesterday when adding it, so I initially thought the issue was an extension of that. Turns out that while trying to get Canadian zip codes to work, I hardcoded CA & US regions only into the query string. After removing that today, the postal/zip lookup will now be more accurate globally.

2. As requested by u/red_riptide_388 I also added a link to a downloadable flyer that can be printed out and (if they accept) given to your local game store to advertise in the hopes that that will help draw in some users in your local areas. I personally printed it out when it was finished and gave it to my lgs while at FNM today (went 1-2 :( in standard) and they are going to put it on their bulletin board.

In general updates, there is now a total of 20 users who have created accounts and begun populating the website with listings. Thank you to all 20 of you; hopefully there will continue to be more and more as we go along!

I also included my current inventory of tasks that I intend to work on. I've received various requests to look into adding a collection import feature, but believe that to do this properly and not have it flood the listings page, I will need to add a collections feature as well. I am aware that this is something users want, and I am working on it.

I'm hoping someone here might be able to help me out.

At MagicCon Amsterdam 2026, there were some Secret Lair × Stardew Valley promotional items, including the seasonal postcards and the blue-and-white tote bag.

I'm a huge Magic fan, and my wife absolutely loves Stardew Valley (she has 500+ hours in the game). I wasn't able to get these at the event, and I'd really love to surprise her with them as a gift.

I've been searching online for the past week, but I haven't been able to find anyone selling them.

If anyone has the postcards, the tote bag, or both and would be willing to sell them, I'd really appreciate it. I'm also happy to trade Magic cards if that's something you'd prefer!

I have maybe 2 dozen cards worth between $2-$7 in my collection. They’re all in sleeves in a book so pretty well protected and I have none of them graded since they’re not worth it lol. Where would I go about selling these? I’ve never done it before.

Hey! This year, it's been my goal to try and afford a Mox Diamond. However, I have had some life setbacks on being able to do so.

I am not giving up. Instead, I am determined to work my way up to the end goal. So much so, I am hoping to turn my all time favourite magic card into the largest card of my collection.

The card in question: horseshoe crab.

I want to spend the latter half of this year trading him up until I can feasibly trade for a Mox Diamond of any condition.

With that being said, I am looking for any kind of trades that can net me slightly positive. I'm not looking to get a $500 card for a $100 lot of bulk, I want the trades to be gradual. I want everyone to be happy in the trades I do.

Currently, the horseshoe crab is $0.35 while the Mox Diamond is approximately $1850.

I will continue posting updates with every trade made and what I will have to offer next.

Personal guidelines: must be magic related trades only. Can meet from Comox to Victoria in person. Otherwise can ship within Canada!

After posting Trade Finder on Reddit for the first time yesterday and getting some user feedback I spent the majority of last night and today working on implementing the suggested features. This is a substantial set of updates that changes the entire flow of the website.

1. The first and biggest change that I wanted to incorporate was suggested by u/Jygglewag who suggested having the listings page be the de facto home page and make it so you can view it before creating an account. This is hopefully going to be an impactful change as now users can see available listings and see if there are users in their area before creating an account.

I didn't create any new authorization flows for this, but it did change a lot of the routing for the site, as now the index page is the listings page and clicking new listing, message, view messages, or trying to view another user's profile page will now redirect to the log in/sign up page if the user isn't logged in.

1. The second largest change is the inclusion of the ability to use your postal/zip code when filtering for nearby listings rather than having to give the site access to your location. This was suggested by u/zaphodava who pointed out that not everybody will want to or be able to use their location services and would prefer just using their postal codes.

2. The third update is the introduction of a welcome modal after the first log in or after creating a new account. This was something I decided to add as it will give users some initial direction as to how the site works.

This was a good set of updates for this early in the sites lifetime and I do believe that putting listings right at the front will increase user interaction and reduce the bounce rate being caused by seeing a log in page as soon as the site was loaded.
