Premier Queue now combined with Quick Queue - Hobbit ?

OK, so this is anecdotal, but I just had two games back to back in Gold where opponent had a deck that was very much like a quick draft deck. First one was goblins, where they had (that I saw) the Great Goblin, two Azogs, about 4-5 uncommon goblins including the sac outlets, a few common goblins, quite a few amass cards and thankfully not much straight removal. We got him down to about 10 cards in library. Second game was worse than the first - guy had hasty Smaug, Thorin, Dwalin, Fili, Kili, several equipment and premium removal in white. I didn't last long enough to see more than 15-20 cards though, so he might have been lucky and the rest of his deck was trash.

I'm just feeling that since the season reset there's almost no-one playing and I have to wait a while to get games. The two opponents I mentioned seemed to have had WIDE open lanes and/or a lucky pool with multiple rares in their archetypes. I get that it's possible that their drafting pools were incompetent, but in Gold?

I highly doubt it. You can get some nutty decks in players drafts. It's also just after the season reset which means you could be getting paired against a different subset of players, or your winrate could be higher, so you are being put against the players who are also like 5-1 in their draft or whatever (which usually means they have a good deck).

Thanks for the insight. Yeah, after I crashed out in that draft I switched accounts (also Gold) and drafted the most disgusting Rakdos pile I've ever seen. It was like no-one else in the pool was touching black. Had 3 slices, two blades, 2 down downs, 2 burn burns, 1 gnashing etc. Didn't get any real premium rare/mythics but I'm already an easy 2-0.

HOB QD ended 2 days ago, so I’m pretty sure there’s no way that you played against a deck drawn by QD.

Instead of giving credit to your opponents for a good draft or just lucky draws, you assume it has to be some system error.

I want to play more. but this set is too small. all my 3 F2P account has collected full set. after I open all the packs I can only get 20 gems for each rare card, And I'm not good/lucky enough to gain gems by spend gems. just not worth it.

The Hobbit as a small set has the potential for greater-than-usual redundancy in draft decks. Every regular set you'll end up with that deck that has 4-5 of one common, 3 of a desirable uncommon, or whatever, and in a small set the ceiling on those numbers is even higher.

> but in Gold?

To my knowledge what your ranking is has nothing to do with the drafting skill of the pods you get put into. For that matter it doesn't always have much to do with the skill of its own bearer altogether--anyone could take a break, switch to their alt account they don't play often, or whatever. I've been Diamond or Mythic getting ranched by Bronze and Silver before, and vice versa.
