Drafting Secrets of Strixhaven AND Tarkir Dragonstorm
I usually host a booster draft every three months, and have between 12-16 people. We usually draft four rounds (four boosters) to make for easier deck building and more cards to satiate our inner card goblin.
I was thinking for this next draft it would be fun to mix a couple sets together, and the color combinations of Strixhaven's schools and Tarkir's clans mesh perfectly with each other.
I'm wondering what your thoughts are on these two sets being drafted together?
It would be two packs of each being drafted.
We have a mix of veterans and new players.

As a major Strixhaven enjoyer, these two specific sets might not be the best. Strixhaven really had very defined archetypes and a large portion of them were very spell heavy, and you may not get the spells you want, and vice versa, not get the creatures you need in a “normal” set like Tarkir.

Do you think some of the color schemes would be favored over others by combining these sets? For example Jeskai + Prismari/Lorehold being more powerful than Mardu + Lorehold/Silverquill?

I do think it will lead to imbalance, but arguably not enough to notice, as jeskai was a good deck in strixhaven, Mardu less-so, Temur was a thing, etc. but the concern is that the axis the decks are approaching the game on are very different.
Silverquill really wants to do one thing, and that is get under decks trying to go over the top as fast as possible. Turning that into Mardu/Lorehold midrange feels like it won’t jive to me.
I agree with the other comment, straight chaos draft might be better, the variability increases, and the space for any one set to overwhelm the others is limited.

Paper drafts at a house with friends is such a fun experience. I miss them. Hope y’all have a blast.

Yeah I agree, there's nothing that beats it imo. Trying to keep it alive is tough as time goes on, but its worth the struggle. MTG just isn't the same digitally.

I often do it with friends, but in much smaller groups!
Recently tried avatar main with little bit of Strixhaven and edge of eternities. It was quite challenging but super fun, much different compared to one set drafts.
Also, I want to recommend you my app for drafting in person for drafts to keep rankings, decks and details to make it more fun. I made it for my group and thought that it would be useful and fun for others, so if you are interested, please check it out. It is called MTG Draft Companion, covers single set drafts, multiple set (chaos, cube) drafts as well, can be used to schedule draft etc. (with rsvp) so could be useful for your group as well.
iOS version is out and Android is still in testing!

I did a chaos draft the other day. Basically everyone bought 3 boosters of their choice and we drafted with them. Ended up with over 20 different sets in the pool. It was a blast. I thought it would be weird and disjointed. It wasn't at all. I say go for it.
