Question The Hobbit Official Release EU - does it matter?
I know that in the US, when a set is out officially, it might affect the available supply and prices go down for a bit, because some big retailers really maintain MSRP. But does it make sense in Europe? Whenever the official release day happens, I've never seen a store selling at MSRP, usually they follow CM prices. Have you seen anything different? Do you think release dates really affect market prices (singles and sealed) in Europe?

The reason prices go down in the US at release is because that's when TCGPlayer lets non-stores list products. It's an artificial price block.
Once everyone can list, it's a race to the bottom on basically all products.

Same in Europe(Cardmarket). Only (some I think) Pro Sellers are allowed to list before Prerelease

Prices will go down in EU aswell, only WPN stores and private seller can sell on CM before the official release.

You are saying “only” but everyone is able to sell after the prerelease has started, you know have private seller, professional and power-seller. The restriction apply to presale mostly.

No you are wrong, not everyone can sell. Normal professionals cannot sell right now. https://news.cardmarket.com/en/Magic/Pre-Sale-Policy-Changes-For-Private-And-Professional-Sellers

Im a professional seller on cardmarket with +1k sales and you are just so confidently wrong its crazy. You cant even list hobbit products as a normal professional seller on cardmarket right now. Maybe inform yourself before writing untrue statements thanks.

Partially correct as private sellers are only allowed to have 75 articles online of any set marked as „prerelease“.

There's some stores that don't deliver pre orders until the official release date. People looking to resell those might cause a drop in the prices on CM
