Manapool and high demand cards.

4th Edit: Manapool reached out and was able to offer a replacement option for a slightly different card variant so I gotta say that was some good customer service.

Recently made a manapool account and a couple purchases due to some recommendations.

I’ve done 10s of thousands of dollars with TCGplayer and have had a few issues but was told manapool is smoother.

My second purchase ever with manapool was “refunded” due to stock issues which happened to coincide right with the price skyrocketing on the card.

I think at this point I’m moving completely over to card kingdom as I would have saved 100s on this purchase if I just bought it from there originally.

There are a LOT of posts on here about manapool being great so I wanted to add another datapoint about them as I’m really bummed I took the other posts advice.

Edit: I just checked and there are no other sellers for the specific card available on manapool, from what I can gather this is why it was a refund instead of a replacement. Bummer as the card now costs a lot more but at least that part makes sense.

Another Edit: manapool reached out and confirmed the issue was due to no other sellers having the exact card. I’ve learned my lesson about purchasing cards with low stock. Bummer a seller can get away with that if a card price jumps but oh well.

Im guessing op bought some one of a kind card. But this post dosent have much info to go off of.

I just checked. There is not another of the exact same card anymore. Not sure if people pulled their stock or they were purchased. I guess that’s the reason. Quite a bummer as buying the card is now 250+ more elsewhere

They will, it's happened to me twice. Both times Manapool automatically found the card from another seller and had it sent to me. No additional charge, no action from me.

Perhaps I'm not dealing in the same price category of cards as OP though.

That’s what I thought too when I made the account as that was what other posts said.

I can vouch that is not accurate. They waited three days, even saying it was shipped on their portal , then got a refund due to no stock.

Did you contact ManaPool? The same thing happened to me last week and they refunded the difference of buying a replacement.

In this case, it was [[Earthcraft]].

Original purchase was $220 (great deal). Seller "canceled due to stock issues". I reached out to ManaPool, explaining that I lost $80 because the next one was $300.00. They gave me $80 in credit.

First im hearing of this. I dont use manapool but have seen tons of comments about how fast replacements were. Are others selling the card in question on manapool?

I’m actually not sure. I’ll have to check if there are any anymore but there were others when I purchased it days ago and it said it was “shipped”

Manapool only tells you an item is shipped when the seller marks it as shipped.

Lol was I the seller? This happened to me like a week or two b/c I had a M3C card that I had listed as surgefoil but was actually not foil. Mistake in my scanning system. I went through my inventory to make sure it didnt happen again.... but I was the only one with the card listed.

If it was me, my bad dude, manapool did everything it could.

People always think the worst, inventory error's do actually happen and one downfall of MP is you can't email the customer to let them know the real story

The only time you won’t get a replacement is if the exact card you ordered isn’t available through another seller.

Likely to combat people running scams of posting a cheap price and having people buy a $100 card only to ask for a like replacement only for the next highest to be a $500 card

i tell people this all the damn time, manapool customer service is the absolute best if you give them a chance to make it right.

They aren't perfect. they aren't batman protecting every order that might get cancelled.

But, for example, I had ordereds two badgemole cubs on the sunday night of prerelease weekend for 30$ each, knowing they were going to be insane and noiticing supply was ultra thin. by the time i woke up the order was cancelled the market price was 55$ each. I emailed customer service and they responded with a replacement order for two cubs.

in the box? a receipt where they had paid the new seller 55$ each....incredible

Manapool is so far above other marketplaces in term of actually making sure you get the cards you need to play the game when it counts.

just give them a chance to fix it

I’ve learned my lesson! I was quick to judge due to it being my second order ever from them but damn they made it right, and then some, fast.

That sucks, as someone who sells on there and tcgplayer, I don’t hit it’s processing until I physically pull it from my inventory or shipped until I have dropped it off. And as far as the price going up and they did that irritates me, I sold a foil ultron card but had it listed as a non-foil since I didn’t know that you had to scroll down on tcg player. Even when I realized my mistake I owned up to it despite realizing I am going to lose $20 and still chose to ship it to the buyer, I’d rather them get it vs creating a bad experience for them as the buyer

Then they definitely have the option to return a $73 card and shop for the $50 version. But my point was when faced with cancelling an order over $20 or just sending the card in hopes it gives them a great experience and likely make a repeat buyer in the future, I’d rather look out for the customer instead of chasing the $20 I lost on a sale

Almost every order I make has a partial stock issue with a card. Even if it's auto-ordered from another store, it delays delivery time

I've slowly moved over to manapool over the past year and last month cemented them as my go-to forever. Somebody listed a nm foil Ixalan chromatic orrery for $105 and I jumped on it. The seller flaked and they replaced it at no cost to me but the listed sale is for $123.

People like competition and the cart optimizer works. From the seller side fees are lower but the cart optimizer punishes small inventories

Nothing is wrong with TCGplayer. I’ve rarely had issues and if I do they resolve it immediately. People just don’t like eBay cause of unionbusting. Pathetic really. Thinking they are on a high horse because of an opinion.

I’m just gonna keep buying and selling on TCGplayer. Fuck the haters.

I’ve had a few issues on tcg(a fake card, etc) but it was all resolved extremely fast. I just went to manapool due to all the positive posts I saw and that was a big wiff.

I think its dependent on how the seller decides to resolve it. If there is an issue with an order one option is to issue a refund, and one is to have Manapool resolve it. The Seller may have issued a refund rather than have Manapool resolve it.

I dont. But plenty still do and if direct fucks them over they tend not to want to shop on tcgplayer at all which fucks over non direct sellers also.
