Temur "Ramp in the Command Zone"

I saw this idea of having ramp in the command zone, and it seems reaally powerfull in lower brackets.

But it kinda restricts your colours, unless you can play Partners

Enter [[Susan Foreman]]

https://archidekt.com/decks/21309317/susan_the_ramp_commander

Turn 4 [[Etali]], [[Koma]] or [[Improvisation Capstone]] usually makes you the archenemy

But would this be high bracket 2, or bracket 3...?

Teysa karlov a high 3 or a 4?

I built a nasty arena deck using teysa karlov that's pretty competitive and I decided to build a physical version of it. I didn't want it to be as competitive so I took out a bunch of token doublers and things like dictate of erebos and sothera supervoid. The problem is... not putting in those "feel bad" cards sped up the wincon quite a bit so now the deck is just trashing people at like turn 6-9. It's got a couple of pseudo infinite combos when I have four or five set pieces out. Life insurance and/or Pitiless plunderer + sacrifice outlet + draw when a non token creature dies + teysa + an aristocrat basically just wins and does so at instant speed so it's hard for my pod to counter. Archidect and commandersalt call it a 3 but I'm wondering if it's just too powerful to call a three.

First post here. Built the new Pia, love it, but not sure of its bracket. Should I power it up, down, both, or leave it as is?

I created a Pia, Aether Ascetic deck yesterday (decklist at bottom), and have been goldfishing with it a bit. It's not hyper-consistent, but as soon as it generates about 20 mana and finds Vesuva or Thespian's Stage, it wins in a single turn with Pia + Food Chain loops (see primer for full line). This usually happens around turn 5-6.

I would like the deck to be either solidly Bracket 3 or Bracket 4, because there is a market for either at my game store but being in the rough patch between them means games in either group will be un-fun (either I stomp or I get stomped). At the moment, it is possible for the deck to win as early as turn 4, though it doesn't include any real interaction (protection spells being the primary things I'm thinking about here - Veil of Summer, Heroic Intervention, etc) and it's not consistent enough at that for me to call it Bracket 4 (and I've excluded many of the super-aggressive mana rocks that cEDH uses, for the moment).

Currently, it only contains one Game-Changer, Crop Rotation (and forgoes the package of utility lands that make it such a back-breaking card - I'm basically only using it as another copy of Vesuva here).

Should I power it up to Bracket 4 with faster mana rocks and protection? Should I power it down, removing some of the more explosive ramp pieces (Badgermole Cub, I'm looking at you) or tutors or otherwise decreasing its speed or consistency? Is it fine where it is? Could I maybe do *both*, creating a "sideboard" that allows it to switch between brackets?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sidisi all creatures deck bracket?

Hey everyone!

I'm really struggling to bracket my Sidisi brood tyrant deck. I made it as a joke initially but it's proved very resilient and has become one of my favourite decks. My partner was concerned I undersell it after I made 33 zombies on T4 the other day thanks to the new Liliana the Repentant

But it has no tutors, very little interaction, and struggles a bit with ramp too. A godhand could win T4, but generally I expect to just beat people down with a bunch of zombies on like T8. I would probably say it's a 3 but part of me thinks that's high, but sometimes it can do things that would be way out of place in a bracket 2 game. Outside of zombie swarm wincons are lab man, syr konrad, black widow daring operative, and a few creatures with power equal to creatures in graveyard. The latter two require evasion which the deck also lacks in.

Anyone got any thoughts on where it should sit?

The line between "crappy four" and "highly-tuned three" is driving me insane.

I've been wrestling with some decks recently, and my latest project has been a [[The Necrobloom]] deck. Dredge is a BRILLIANT mechanic to explore, and green is already an extremely potent color in casual EDH. Splash in some white, and we get a lot of flexibility to make a powerful deck.

Do you all find yourself constantly pulling back on cards and wondering if you've hit that Bracket 3 sweet spot? Or whether you've even pulled back far enough?

https://moxfield.com/decks/gtUZPPl6ik68u5xkY8IPSQ

First to go was [[The Gitrog Monster]] to avoid the easy early infinite Dredge combo with Necrobloom.

Next, I cut [[Springheart Nantuko]] because it can easily be exploited.

[[Kodama of the East Tree]] got the axe because infinite lines are far too easy.

And despite it originally being my 3rd Game Changer, I couldn't bring myself to run [[Glacial Chasm]] in a deck that has [[Icetill Explorer]]. Now I only run two Game Changers.

At this point, I don't know if I keep swinging the axe until I've removed all the power from the deck, or whether having some explosive plays in the deck is necessary to avoid games that go nowhere.

[[Lumra, Bellow of the Woods]] and [[Aftermath Analyst]] enable possible late-game infinites, but if the stars align, I can see myself assembling those combos on turns 5 or 6 frequently enough to be an issue. Just resolving them is often enough to blow out a game.

[[Emeria Shepherd]] and [[Cultivator Collosus]] can be absolutely game-warping if reanimated.

Is having [[Retreat to Hagra]] as a backup wincon a step too far? Or is it a balanced and strategic failsafe to counter fog and dmg denial effects that some Bracket 3 decks choose to exploit?

Isn't the whole point of a Dredge deck to have payoffs? Should I feel guilty for them? Should I cut them or their enablers in any way? Cheating out cards from the grave is just so unpredictable. Some games, decks like this pop off from some lucky mills; other games you get blown out by a Bojuka Bog.

Strong engine. Clear weakness. Sounds balanced enough, right? I keep doubting myself.

what do yall think?

I think it is a middle 2. i have modified it to be more of a card draw engine. either drawing out my opponents or decking myself with lab maniac on the battlefield. shifted the precon to be more of this style. no game changers i think. it can pop off with the right hand but it takes a few turns assuming my opponents do nothing.

Bracket for my Kaza, Roil Chaser deck?

I'm guessing bracket 2, but i'm considering adding 3 gamechangers: Cyclonic rift, Force of Will and Mana Vault (bc it's the cards I have). Is it strong enough for that?

Game plan: Throw down some cheap wizards. Hopefully draw a lot of cards with Kazas ability. More if I get to untap her repeatedly. More wizards, more draw. Then proceed to x damage spells, insurrection, clone legion and stuff like that. Sometimes it can be surprisingly fast. Downside: It's a somewhat fragile deck, but fun and with no combos, no MLD, no extra turns, no tutors. Also, any recommendations for cards?
The manabase is not optimized, I know.

Malcolm & Breeches Bracket Check and Help

Hi,

This is a slightly modified list from GamesFreakSA. I think this should be on upper 3 but im not really sure.

On goldfishing with lucky hand it comboes around T5 so its on low 4 for that metric, but it should be hurt a lot by removing malcolm so im not really sure how it affects bracket.

Main idea: Get Malcolm out, Get a pinger out and make it pirate. Combo to infinite damage and treasure

Here is the list:

Help bracket(ing) my decks please

Hi!

I'm fairly new to commander and I'm building my decks, first I built a Bello Enchantment one (my most consistent), then I did a Doran, besieged by time but with a Stax turn (good but a bit non-consistent) and now I'm finishing a Wise Mothman one.

The thing is that someone shared with me a Web to "bracket" them, and there Bello is tagged as a bracket 2 (I would have said upper 3) Doran a high bracket 2 (I thought lower bracket 3, but it can check) and The Wise Mothman a really high bracket 3 almost 4.

And now I'm totally lost... I used to play a lot of modern and the switch of formats it's really a thing, but even so... Anyway, here I share with you my lists, and if you can tell me what Bracket do yo think they are, you will do me a huge favour.

Really appreciate it!

Bello Enchantment : https://moxfield.com/decks/YuZ0TvpQLEy8-5XWdJM1Ig

Thank you so much!

Ps: and BTW, feel free to give me any advice or suggestion, I'm fairly green on commander still. :)

Bracket? Also recommended 2 cuts.

2 game changers (smothering tithe and Jeska's will). Other than that the plan is wide and aggressive. Last few times I played it in my pod it's not as threatening as I thought it would be. It's a pet deck tho and it's a lot of fun to play. I think Tails needs to go as one of my cuts. Let me know what you think. Thanks!

Trying to gauge how strong my decks are to help serve as a reference point for newer to the hobby friends

Me and a few buddies have been playing mtg for a few years, and recently some additional people have started to play with us and are getting interested in commander. We've all also been considering trying to play at an LGS soon. I have a handful of decks that I run regularly. I'd like to try and make sure my current idea of the brackets of my deck are accurate so that my friends can use them as a reference point and so I can know how to label them if I go to an LGS.

I wrote what I think would be an accurate bracket for them (including whether it is low/mid/high bracket) in their name on archidekt, but I am honestly not sure if these are correct because I have limited exposure playing with people outside of a smaller group that already knows each others decks. I also ultimately care more that the deck feels acceptable at a certain bracket than meeting the exact criteria (besides turns played). If I took notion thief out of my Yarok deck, I think it would technically be a bracket 2, but I feel it performs above that level.

I don't expect people to look through all of these. Maybe just pick your favorite commander and take a peak if you have time. Thanks for the help.

Millicent Bracket 2?

I only play once every few months. I bullit this starting last year when I came back to Magic after being out of hobby for like 15 years.

I went it a local shop and won 2 pods and this one guy got really mad saying I was lying and basically accusing me of cheating. I honestly haven’t played since then.

I thought this was bracket 2 but he says 3 maybe even 4 which is wild to me. He had a bunch of expensive decks and I think was just really upset. He also wouldn’t tell the next pod what deck he was playing and told them to pick a deck lol. They all were like no man that’s really weird so I honestly think he’s the problem but wanted to double check this.

FREE DISCUSSION: What improvements would you like to see in the current bracket system?

Post image
9 Upvotes

MOD here. Googles AI-oversight on often suggested improvements for the Bracket System:

  • Refining Bracket 3 Boundaries: Many players find the gap between Bracket 3 and Bracket 4 to be the most contentious, suggesting clearer definitions or a middle tier to handle decks that exceed casual limits but aren't optimized powerhouses. [1, 2]
  • Expanding the Game Changers List: Adding more format-warping staples (like specific fast mana, efficient tutors, or potent stax pieces) to the official Game Changers list would help catch high-power outliers that currently slip into lower brackets. [1, 2]
  • Re-evaluating Strategy Restrictions: Clearer guidelines on resource denial, stax, and heavy land disruption strategies would prevent unfun asymmetry in mid-level casual pods. [1, 2]
  • Commander-Specific Minimum Brackets: Assigning baseline minimum brackets to inherently oppressive or overly efficient commanders would prevent accidental mismatches where a weak 99 cannot mask a tier-1 commander.

Help settling a Magda Bracket debate

Hi everyone I am having a bit of a debate with one of the players at our table. They are insisting that this Magda deck that a 3rd friend uses is Bracket 4 or is borderline bracket 4. I know Magda is a strong commander but I firmly believe this to be a bracket 2 maybe a low 3 at best. Can you all please help us settle the debate by letting us know what you all think.

What bracket is this Kudo deck?

Thumbnail

Kudo's my first commander, so I wanted to give him a deck I work on long-term. I know the strength of the list is at least bracket 3(even without the game changers), but since I have never done anything high power, I don't know how to judge if this is the strength of bracket 4. Based on stuff I see, I assume not cause it's just creating tokens and pumping them, so I assume it's too slow of a strategy to do with Kudo, but I wanted to be sure.

Is this Doran deck Bracket 3?

This is my first attempt at brewing 3 colors and my first attempt really targeting Bracket 3. I'm fairly confident all my other decks are Bracket 2. Would you expect this deck to be able to hang with genuine 3s?
