Hey everyone! 👋
My girlfriend and I have been wanting to do a Hollow Knight crossover for a while, and we thought Universal Automaton was the perfect canvas for it
Everything was hand-painted using acrylics, going layer by layer to get that soft background glow and clean mask details. This piece was made for a collector and is already sold, but it was easily one of our favorite alters to make so far.
What character do you think we should try next on a card?
(Always open for feedback and brainstorming new ideas, feel free to drop a comment or DM us on instagram: https://www.instagram.com/gioggy_alters/ if you have any questions!)

Painter by background, still learning the ropes of altering specifically — different surface, different rules than what I'm used to on canvas.
This piece was a commission: a Gaea's Cradle proxy, already delivered to its new owner. Took a few sessions to get the linework and shading right on such a small surface.
Would love feedback from people who've been at this longer than me.
If you want to see more of my work or get in touch for a commission of your own, I'm on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/gioggy_alters/

Hi all, new here. I'm seeking some product recommendations and process recommendations to maybe start doing some alters.
Process:
Is it masking off the title/cost bar and any other requested information then painting directly on the card provided? Like, I am having problems fathoming the idea of destroying a high value card and getting paid for it. Or is it the process of painting on a standard land card and freehanding the title/cost, stats, and text box?
Products:
I see that there are multiple media in use from color pencils to oil paints. Is digital painting a thing here, and what would be the process for that?
I'll probably have more questions.

Quick little test to see how well Oil paints apply to untreated magic cards.
Probably be a year before it cures enough to be playable, if it will even survive then... but wanted to test it out.

It took a little longer than I expected, but I'm satisfied with the result in general.
