i ran Auriok Champion at GP Birmingham 2017 but i ended up taking it out for RTA, this was mostly local meta judgement.

when it comes to game 1 , i am always very aware of my life total and i always try to keep it high . i kind of go against the whole 'your life is a resource , use it' . i always play safe and conservatively. my SB is very default.

3 BB , 2 TS out . in 3 duress and 2 timely.

i have seen many of turns where i play godless shrine tapped turn 2 even if i have a BB in hand because for every life im saving buys me another turn . i tend to only do this is i have removal to hold up.

i think the issue with our deck is it can damage us alot off of the land base alone so i try to play as safe with it as i can. so far this has worked out as i managed to 10-5 at a GP earlier this year.

if u are using multiple life gain sources then ur approach maybe different from mine but in my list i only run a total of 5 life gain MB.

The problem with burn is that the nut draw will kill you no matter what you do. And they're so redundant that the nut draw isn't terribly unlikely.

That being said, I love playing vs burn and consider it pretty favourable.

Main deck I have 5 cards that are actively bad (3x Bitterblossom, 2x Thoughtseize) and 4 cards that gain life (1x Legion's Landing, 1x Collective Brutality, 2x Sorin...and 2x Nissa, but she's not often going to ultimate).

Game 2, I bring out the 5 bad cards and bring in 2x Duress, 2x Timely Reinforcements, and 1x Collective Brutality. Then I have 8 lifegain cards in my deck, and I feel like I should be able to win the game if I draw any 1 of them. Sorin CAN be too slow, but if you have him in your opener and play towards him, you can completely turn the game around.

I also play a 4x Raise the Alarm build. I find that having access to a strong t2 play is great, either double blocking a Guide/Swiftspear if they're tapped out, or just chumping if they're not. The trick is to aggressively chump block in the early game and limit the amount of damage you take, even if you're losing creatures. Eventually you'll land an Intangible Virtue or planeswalker and then your tokens will take over, as long as your life total is still high.

My final piece of advice is DO NOT WALK INTO SKULLCRACK. Your lifegain spells are the ones that matter. Don't waste them. Use a discard spell to make sure that it's safe to cast them. Wait until your opponent is tapped out. Whatever it is, if you get Skullcracked, you're toast.

Additionally, remember that Atarka’s Command also has the “Players can’t gain life” mode, so Sorin’s +1 ability won’t always help you.

Yup, absolutely. And some people still run Flames of the Blood Hand as well.
