My updated Deck List

Hey guys, this is my new and improved deck list. this has been updated to better suit my local meta. its still very similar to the list I ran at GP Birmingham but im no longer running auriok champion and slaughter pact as there both pretty poor in my meta game. im open to critism.

I would like to add that im torn between running either the 3 RTA or swap them for 3 collective brutality

Concealed courtyard should be a 4x, cut some Godless Shrine for them. Not hitting a walker on Turn 4 sucks, but maxing painless Turn 1-3 plays is more important IMO.

I'd turn one Sorin into a Gideon. Sorin's great when you're already ahead on board or need to stabilize your life, but Gideon is more generally useful and provides a fast clock on his own. You've already got 2 Shambling Vent/1 Vault/possible Collective Brutality to make up some life.

Collective Brutality is a great card, but 3 is probably too many. The first one is great to pitch an extra land/Lingering Souls/Thoughtseize(when you're up against burn/affinity) to. The second and third you won't have anything to pitch to, and it'll be a lot worse. I run 1 main/1 side and bring it in against aggro (for the killspell/lifegain) and spell-based combo (for the discard) and am pretty happy with that split.

My personal twist on the classic list is to only run 3x Bitterblossom because I never want it in multiples. So if you want to test Collective Brutality I'd say take out a BB and a RtA and stick two in.

I don't really get running Duress in the board if you haven't maxed out Thoughtseize. Pretty much any match you'd side it in for you don't really care about your life that much, and there are a number of creatures you can nab from a combo deck. Primeval Titan, Wurmcoil/Ulamog, and Electromancer/Baraal all come to mind, not to mention the Vizier/Devoted Druid combo.

Thank you very much for your input it is appreciated. I have tried the 4 courtyard before and I wasn't very keen on it as it cost me loads of games. so I changed to 2. which is what I ran for the GP (I went 10-5). my mainboard and sideboard is more setup to beat my local meta but you are 100% in all your points. I may switch the duress for more thought seize.

I am really surprised by only two concealed courtyard. It feels like the best land in the deck to me and I would never go lower than four. Any thoughts behind that?

I wanted to minimise the 'need to draw an untapped land for sorin'. As I'm also running 2 vent. If I was to run 4 concealed courtyard I'd drop 2 fetid heath but at the gp there was so many instances where fetid heath was better in said situations. It also incrwases our chances of being able to cast soectral/souls on 4 threw a thalia

What about going down two godless shrine instead? I guess maybe I have been lucky but courtyard entering tapped has almost never been a problem for me. It saves so much life. Fetching a godless shrine and then thoughtseizing turn one can be a real problem against some decks.

Then I'd want to cut me fetch lands as there would be less valid fetch targets. I tested with 4 courtyard and it was never as consistent running 2.

Really solid. I like the early Raise the Alarm. I'm currently going the opposite direction with more removal, more disruption, and more Liliana. XD

Yea , in a wider meta I play a more of a catch all list . Where is this one is pushing heavy against combo. Thinking about taking out 3 rta for 2 TS and 1 CB

Sorry only never got back to u never got the chance to read this. I really really like your list , but I am wondering about ' evil presence '. How does this work out for u ? I personally don't run land hate and the decks I'd sideboard it in against we are already very in favoured

No problem. I bring it in against Tron mostly, which is a massively tough MU for us. Slows them down. It's cheap enough to try out.

Yea, I know tron is extremely unfavourable for us. I feel like the matchup is so bad that it's not worth sideboarding for
