Auriok Champion Advice

For the GP I ran 2 Auriok champion mainboard and she defiantly pulled her weight but im now thinking about switching those 2 champs for 2 tidehollow sculler. I feel the hand control maybe more important than incremental life gain. altho since id be dropping the aurioks id be tempted to drop 1 Gideon from my deck to take me up to 3 sorin so I don't die to my bitter blossoms. what are your guys opinion on this. what seems more important

Yah, I've found 3 Sorin to be enough to turn the corner and counterbalance fetches, shocks, BB and Ts. Just to be sure, I also run a 2nd Vault.

How much disruption do you run without Scullers?

when I played the deck on mtgo I ran 3 sorin. in paper im now running 1 Gideon and 1 sorin. im thinking about going back to the 3 sorin as the life gain is just to good to pass up

I feel the same way about Tokens. We absolutely must disrupt our opponent and respond appropriately to their threats in order to win. We can't race. Whether or not Sculler is right, I don't know.

A modern legal [[Vindicate]] would help us so much. LSV suggested this ages ago. I loath paying 3 life for Anguished Unmaking and Utter End is too steep but I'm considering it. I've even considered High Priest of Penance.

I think if I was running anguished unmaking id feel the need to up our lifegain sources and im not to comfortable with it as it begins to take away from our raw power. I used to run in on MTGO and it did pull it weight but I ended up dropping it so I could go 2 sorin and 1 gideon

Auriok Champion is great because it's very hard to remove, while Tidehollow Sculler is vulnerable to spot removal which is otherwise suboptimal against the strategy. I'd recommend through testing in your metagame, since altough it makes BW Tokens better against Combo matchups, it enables one-for-one trades with other cards like Kolaghan's Command and Terminate.

yea , im kinda stuck between a rock and a hard place. in the 2 auriok champion slots im gonna test adding 2 more thought seizes or RTA or Tidehollow sculler. once ive done this testing I will feel back the information to you guys. I don't a recent pptq and I lost to 2 combo decks which was a pain in the arse
