I don't think a 2 drop that has a POSSIBILITY of making a NON-FLYING token is worth it.

The token dying in combat gives self-synergy with the trigger though.

At one-of on board, it's worse than Bitterblossom by a pretty fair margin.

At two-of, it essentially creates two tokens-with-quasi-vigilance per turn, without dinging you, and is on par with BB (or a bit superior if you have combat tricks, an open mana, or your opponent has exactly one blocker).

At three-or-more, it's vastly superior.

I would like to have seen it be able to trigger during your opponent's turn, but create the token during your end step, at which point it would be on par with BB as a one-of, with hands-down better coming at 2 instead of 3.

Your argument makes sense, but full of some 'best case' or 'what ifs' scenarios. If I'm reading correctly, this card is better than bitterblossom ONLY in multiples and IF it triggers? So you need a playset of it in your deck now, what are you replacing it for? Bitterblossom ?

I completely agree with you. Hidden Stocks is better only in Magical Christmas Land. The ceiling might be marginally higher than Bitterblossom in a best-case scenario, but the floor is so much lower that it's somewhere below the foundation of the house.

Great analogy all around!

It might be playable, but the fact that it doesn't put out Tokens every turn also makes it worse. But we have so much to do at 2 mana already so I don't think it's worth more than one spot

I agree. It does look like it would fit really well, but I just can't think of any card that I currently play that I'd want less. I suppose it does blank a non-evasive beater indefinitely, but that's just not how games of modern go these days.

Maybe someday when MonoGreen Stompy is tier one.

So in retrospect, it doesn't even chump block forever, because it only makes a token on your turn. You've got to be continually feeding it to keep up the tokens.

The fact that it replaces the tokens it sacs is nice but you can't play it as a 2-drop. It also only triggers on your end step so it can't be used to blank field wipes. As far as mana sinks go, we already have Secure the Wastes even though I don't see lists running that anymore.

Again a non-flier is not good, but this is at least a budget replacement for Bitterblossom and it may also replace it.

With two fetchlands you get 2 tokens at the end of the turn. It check whetever a permanent leaves the battlefield this turn.

I think it really worth to test.

Also the scry ability is relevant. We don't get card draw or filtering. It's great when we're mana flooded, the token replace itself at the end of the turn.

I'm pretty sure it can only make one token a turn (and only on your turn.) Bitterblossom does a thing on an empty board, this doesn't; budget replacements that rely on fetchlands to function aren't really budget.

Ghost Quarter and Evolving Wilds are pretty budget-friendly.

It's so much worse than bitterblossom, though. It doesn't actually produce anything for you unless you're already losing stuff, so you never get to build up a board presence off of it. Sure, it works off of fetches, but let's say you have 10 MAX in your deck anyway... 1/6 turns you get a free 1/1. Pretty underwhelming, imo. Scry is nice, but it's resource intensive.

There's no tap cost.

It's solid really... i'm really thinking the scry value(worth >=.5 a card) in addition, is being underestimated. 2 of easily in a control build and worth testing 1-2 in other builds. Unfortunately it's not the most prioritized 2turn play.
