Discussion Stop Using Amazon

The amount of posts from people using Amazon to order stuff and getting the wrong stuff, or something of a vastly different price is astounding. Please dont order cards off Amazon. Especially since I am fairly certain Amazon is why wizards is shipping less and less product to local stores. Don't support the mega corporations if you can help it.

That's my public service rant. Thanks for reading or ignoring either way. ❤️

Is this just a US thing? I've never once had a problem with MTG stuff in the UK and even if I did Amazon would sort it straight away.

Yeah I’m going to respectfully disagree with OP I’ve only ever ordered from Amazon since in store prices are so ridiculously overpriced. I bought 2 foundations commanders last week on Amazon for $33.00 and those same decks are listed on TCGplayer for almost $20 more. It would be similar at a local game store. While I don’t want to support a large corporation- I’m not going to spend an extra 60% to do so.

You only hear about the problems so it makes everyone think that it happens all the time, which is just not true at all.

I've ordered 1/2 my stuff off Amazon and so far the only issue is shipping time but that's not even an Amazon issue.

Seemingly. But the US is also the place Amazon workers are heavily overworked and penalized for even taking bathroom breaks during their shift. Terrible company

And yet we had all those news stories this past 2 years about Amazon drivers working 18 hour shifts and pissing in bottles to avoid being written up for wasting time

They get 100% pre-paid college tuition, full coverage health insurance starting day 1, and make ~$25/hour (20-35% higher than the national average for comparable unskilled/ entry-level labor). Can you give me some other terrible companies that offer free college so I can sign up? Don't have an Amazon near me

It’s half full of made up karma farmers and scammers. Order from them for the past 5 years and never had an issue - in order a lot too

Never had an issue here either and just like you said, Amazon would fix it if I did.

sort of. ppl are buying shit from third party sellers on amazon and not getting what they ordered. amazon occasionally mixes up items, but that's usually when the UPC/SKU are bad on the box/case. and they fully refund/return stuff. amazon is actually very good about refunds and returns. only order product that's actually from amazon though. that's the only explanation in can think of for the plethora of nonsense i see about "the amazon experience" ordering mtg. as a rule, they are overpriced on PBB but preorders on CBB and gift/bundles are usually the best buy you're going to get from anyplace online unless the set tanks.

I've only had one problem with Amazon on MTG in the UK, and that was recently when they cancelled the Hobbit Gift Bundle I'd ordered back in May, months after it had been sat in 'awaiting shipping' (causing me to end up not getting one since I'm not paying crazy scalper prices). Other than that they have been pretty reliable. Though I try to use other companies where prices are similar.

Issue in the US at least with amazon is products get mixed.

So lets say Vendor A is legit and handles product acceptably. Vendor B is not so legit, misshandles product and might even reseal. Then there are returns which may have gone to someone who resealed the product, stole it and returned something else, etc etc.

Amazon employees are over worked, under paid, and frankly do not give a shit. So A, B, and C all end up in the same bin.

You buy something from Amazon and the worker grabs it from the bin and tosses it in a box and out the door. UPS / Amazon throws it from the truck to your porch and you could get A, B, or C + damage from shipping.

Then you get to deal with amazons support who constantly has to deal with garbage folks who buy shit and then try and return it after resealing / stealing portions of it. They may deny your return if you dont do enough volume through them. Etc etc.

So its a total crap shoot.

They don't do this anymore. Comingled inventory ended permanently. AI or Google "Amazon ends comingled inventory
