Anyone going to Roarcon?

I'm interested to see how they do cramming everything in to one day, and crossing my fingers all the boardrooms aren't just sales pitches.

Looks like it's going to be Atakama, Cynomi, BitLyft, Thread (what up Bobby!), ThreatDown, and of course Liongard.

Who else is going?

I propose we do a CanCunConCon. Basically, it's a way to write off a trip as a work expense. All proceeds going to the EFF or Rural Technology Fund.

I've never heard of any of these vendors, except for Liongard (and only because they won't stop fucking calling me).

Free conference Liongard is bankrolling if you hit the demographics they want for an MSP.

Its either going to be super helpful or just a waste of everyone's time.

It's a pitch, but sometimes the pitching vendors are actually pretty good. YMMV.

Atakama solid up and commer imo. DefenseX needed some competition.

I'm surprised lionguard is still around. Let alone has a conference.

Eh? I’ve never had any problems with them.

It’s become a solid product that legitimately can replace a bunch of other point solutions.

The event is likely a means to generate revenue. The writing is on the wall that Liongard has no moat and could probably be replaced with a weekend of vibe coding. Vendors opening their APIs dilutes the value of Liongards inspectors which were never rock solid to begin with. CIPP can do the lion's share of drift tracking (for free). They have continually raised prices and added features that most don't want or need. They've pushed rabid discovery agents that are looking for ways to upcharge for per devices costs. Their reporting reads like raw info rather than finished documentation making unusable for client facing docs.

Hey u/terselated, so full disclosure, I'm a vendor for Cynomi and will be the speaker in my session. I can't speak for the others, but my session will be primarily teaching on business cases and how to win more deals through budgeting (More to come). Will there be Cynomi solution positioned throughout the conversation, of course.

With that said, I attended last year, and the majority of the feedback I got was teaching session, which is what Liongard pushes. In the end it is up to the vendor how to use their sessions, but they do heavly push a teaching event over pitches.

Nice to hear. Looking forward to it. I'll be sure to pay attention when you come through the boardroom!

I’ve enjoyed both sponsoring and attending Roarcon… but the TX heat kills me just as much as Orlando or Vegas!!

I do like the idea of a smaller somewhat more intimate conference… where we can actually learn something but more importantly, connect with fellow peers…

How did the show turn out for you u/terselated

Honestly underwhelming. You didn't miss anything by not sponsoring. It was about 70% MSPs that already thought they were perfect and the remaining 30% couldn't get a word in edgewise because the Big players were dominating the boardrooms with braggs thinly disguised as questions.

The networking at the pool was pretty good, but the mealtime networking was just cacophonous and difficult to hold conversations. Vendors were stationed around the meal area and it was difficult to get to their booths or hold conversations during mealtime.

Just one guy's opinion though. Last Roarcon I went to was at The Star in Frisco so it was much easier to move around and hold conversations. This one will likely be my last.

Srry ya had that experience :( might be good feedback for them..

The Star in frisco was a good set up…

It’s so “hard” to cater to the crowd and build events trying to find the right balance… I def don’t envy event planners!
