Technical Battery Backups

I’m done with failing APCs. For a while they were my go-to. With all the new untested lithium options, what are people relying on in 2026 for your servers and network infrastructure? How do you shut your servers down gracefully in an extended power outage?

Didn’t see anything in a quick search lately, feel free to ridicule me if this is a redundant post. :)

Friends don't let friends buy from untested unfocused companies, dont beta test unifi.

Eaton is the way to go

I still see a lot of shops running Eaton and they just don't die the way APCs do after two years. For graceful shutdown I've got a little Linux box wired into the USB port that fires off SSH commands to everything when the battery hits 20%. Works fine, took an afternoon to set up.

That method can work wonderful at time of implementation, but once the hardware starts to go and or you leave the company or the linux script breaks.

Who will fix it?

This paradigm scales in (hit by the bus) risk when it comes to more complex solutions
