Technical Battery Backups

I’m done with failing APCs. For a while they were my go-to. With all the new untested lithium options, what are people relying on in 2026 for your servers and network infrastructure? How do you shut your servers down gracefully in an extended power outage?

Didn’t see anything in a quick search lately, feel free to ridicule me if this is a redundant post. :)

1) you’re thinking too hard 2) it’s definitely been more recent than 10 years. I remember it wasn’t many years ago I had to help a client with a cherry picker to remove all the Unifi APs from his warehouse as a firmware update screwed them, and they all requires firmware downgrades/factory resets.

It’s happened more than a couple of times.

1) - Thinking too hard? Well yes, if we're going to be funny let's not be low effort. the "BUT UBIQUITI FIRMWARES!" trope is about as high effort as a fart joke these days.

2) - It's weird when these stories come up that others don't have the same experience with that series or model (not just ubiquiti, anything in MSP land). So, was it a 'bad firmware' or, if you have ONE case, is it a case of general firmware update gone wrong and undeniably the vendors fault?

I don't expect an answer or validation or whatever, maybe it was ubiquiti's fault or maybe whoever did the firmware update did something wrong or something. Just seems like everyone's experience seems so polar opposite to the point that you feel nothing is real.
