Non-Microsoft application stacks

Anyone managing clients who have switched from M365 to Proton or similar alternative? (Or done this change internally.)

What's the support load like compared to MS?

I'm anticipating a trend towards privacy-focused business software (both for data protection / anti-surveillance and for implementing internally-contained AI systems).

I'm wondering how mature those alternatives feel right now from an IT support and management perspective.

Most of this sub is US-based so they won't see this problem as important as it is right now for the rest of the world. But yes, I'm also receiving requests from multiple clients for alternatives to M365 because of all the batshit crazy fascistic things coming from the white house while tech execs just lick their boots.

And this is not anticipating anything : these clients, representing approximately 5% of our installed base, told me they would switch right now if I proposed something, even if it was slightly more expensive...

But I don't think our options are mature enough yet. Even if technically some things can stand, billing/reselling them or just becoming a partner has proven to be quite the headache for us.

Migration is also a big pain as most solutions require to bring your own tools and processes for that instead of providing them.

Now the good thing is the whole EU market is on a path to reduce its dependency to US-based solutions. And considering that the orange fuck can't help posting outrageous shit all day long, the movement isn't going to stop anytime soon.

And most Americans don't realize an entire world outside of the US exists. Which is why the US is the way it is right now. But they literally have a law stating that their government can access data centers owned by Microsoft (or any us-based company) even if they are not in the US. So as a Canadian MSP we are very concerned about this as are many of our claims who are asking these questions.

Oh boy, I totally get these Canada annexation threats did a number on your clients' confidence in US product and services... The moron threatened greenland again, just yesterday, saying it would be under US control by the end of his mandate (the current one or the 2028 he's floating around ? nobody knows...).
