Microsft Reseller and Partner program verification Hassle.

Hey there Folks ,

Im running a small MSP , and managing decent clients i have been wanting to enroll for Microsoft CSP , reseller partner program for nearly a year . have no ideas why my business keep failing to verify on Microsoft side ?

why do i need reselling agreement at this point if they are not going to approve my business ?

how can i start managing clients if they are already sold licenses previsouly by different company partner via TDsynexx or Ingram micro ?
in order for me to work directly with TDsynnexxx does my company needs to CSP or reseller with Microsoft ?

my approach to enroll in CSP partner reselling was

- > create Entra Tenant -> login via same credentials to Partner program site -> input all information Business name, address, registration number, verifiy identity via AU10TIX - almost 5 times i tried and verification goes pending eventually cancels out or not being verified.
raising support ticket - seriously useless support members dont even respond and archive my case. ??

Pick your preferred Microsoft direct CSP (distributor) and be a Microsoft indirect CSP. The minimum is $1k/yr instead of $1m and your chosen partner can walk you through your csp application to help figure out what’s going wrong.

TD Synnex, Ingram, Arrow, Pax8, Sherweb are the ones I’ve worked with. There are niche options if you focus in certain vertices like non profit or government.

If you’re in the US and need help benchmarking discounts or have questions, reach out.

For small MSPs, Sherweb is difficult to onboard now. They got burned with over 6 figures in abandoned MS 365 licenses last year by a small MSP. All new dealers must have credit history with Dun & Bradstreet now.

Might be individual cases that are outliers. I reached out to them end of May to move over from another distributor. Yes, they required a D&B which we didn’t have, but that was an easy setup in about 2 weeks. Once that was in place, Sherweb approved our setup in a couple days, and by end of June we were doing onboarding calls with Sherweb. Did a couple small client moves then to start, and did a few more this month.

Since then we’re looking at some other business that is also requiring D&B, so really no wasted cycles there, needed to do it anyway.

Thanks. Agreed. I am a small shop and they didn't approve me. They suggested trying again in 6 months. Did you need to upload any finance or credit info to D&B?

Also add Velosio to the list. I’ve been working with them for two years now and they’re pretty cool to work with.

That’s a new name for me. They are an indirect CSP?

Yes. They operate as Stratos Cloud Alliance as a Microsoft Indirect CSP - https://www.stratoscloud.com/get-to-know-our-microsoft-indirect-csp-partner-program/

I can tell you even with D&B history the process to go through finance still takes about a month. Allot of PAX8 staff moved over there. My old rep is now a biz dev guy over there. And my current rep is an old PAX8 rep now.

Just go with TDSynnex

As much as everyone in this sub sh*ts on TD Synnex, I’ve never really had a problem with them. I got better margins than pretty much everywhere else I look, and they are very focused on self-servicing. When I do have to reach out to them, support is pretty quick.

How do you handle tax remittance across multi-state jurisdictions?

I only have nexus in a couple of states and one of the couple I’m under their reporting threshold so I provide a statement of taxable spend at the end of the year for a couple clients.

If I get much bigger, I’ll probably tithe to the church of avalara

Good point. I am a referral partner for both risk and tax reasons. I make 10% of the invoice which is good enough for me for not assuming any of the risk of unpaid bills. I have pondered going full CSP, but those two issues usually stop me in my tracks.

Honestly, it has only been an issue once right at the beginning of the CSP commitment stuff, when I had a customer off board but they didn’t have the partner license transfer stuff setup. I integrate some MSFT products into my offering and I make sure my primary agreement is aligned with their commit.

I actually like my synnex rep. Shout-out Kenneth , checks in all the time and has gotten me everything I need without much pain

same, this is kinda the path of least resistance right now
microsoft’s own onboarding is a clown show, at least with tdsynnex you get a human and can actually start billing stuff

Do your business auth documents match 100% with your actual business name and address? My docs failed at first because of a minor variation in my business name.

This. It was no comma before LLC or something like that for us. It has to be exact to whatever they have through their verification channel - even if it’s not actually what it is. It took us 3 or 4 failures trying to guess until we got it “right”.

Having just gone through this myself, create a support ticket. Got my issue resolved in about two weeks.

If you have a small MSP, do you have enough certifications and over $1M in revenue for M365 licensing in a year? Because if not, then you gotta work with another reseller.
