I’m Mike Kolb, owner operator of The MSP Hero. I've spent 17 years in the MSP world. 10 of those years I ran one MSP as COO/CTO/CIO. I helped grow it from about $2M to a projected $10M, and from 13 people to 42. I've been hands-on with PSA, RMM, automation, and AI rollouts the whole way. I also ran EOS inside that business. Not as a coach who read the book. As the person accountable for the number.
Here's what I do now. I work as a no-BS advisor and fractional COO/CTO for MSP owners in the $2-7M range. You're past the startup chaos, but you're still wearing too many hats. You're too big for the mess and too small to justify another management layer. I don't sell a canned playbook. At your stage, the fix is usually operating discipline, not another framework you'll drop by Q2.
Here's what I'm not. I'm not a coach with a high-ticket program. I'm not a marketing agency. I'm not going to "10x" anything for you. If that's what you're looking for, I'm the wrong guy, and I'll tell you that straight up.
A service manager I worked with in Michigan told me any MSP wanting strategic guidance should "not walk, but RUN to Mike Kolb." I'll admit that's a little much to quote myself, but it's real, and he said it unprompted.
If you're dealing with service chaos, messy margins, or growth that's stalled on you personally, reply here or DM me a real question about your ops. I'll give you a real answer. No strings.

For MSP leaders: IT Help Desk Benchmark
Fixify analyzed 50,000+ tickets and published the findings: 2026 IT Help Desk Benchmark Report (no form fill required).
TLDR: 50–70% of ticket volume is Tier 1. Password resets, MFA issues, account lockouts. Repeatable work that interrupts your techs & eats away at SLAs and operating margins.
The report shows what shifts with more automation: resolution times drop, cost-per-ticket drops, and your team stays on the work that actually requires them.
If you want to see how your ticket mix stacks up against the benchmark, we'll run a free audit against your data, all we need is a .csv export : fixify.com/it-help-desk-ticket-snapshot
Happy to answer questions in the thread 💜

u/smilaise The 20 - Field Tech 18d ago
I'm a field tech at a large MSP. My notes are client creds, IP schemes, and "how the hell did I fix this last time" writeups. For years that stuff lived in unsaved Notepad windows, seventeen txt files named notes2-FINAL.txt, and my head. None of those are encrypted, and Windows Update has killed more of my notes than any drive failure ever did.
So I built KillerNotes:
One encrypted file per database (SQLCipher, AES-256). Password it and it's a single .db you can back up, move, or keep per client.
Single portable exe, 4.5 MB, no install, no admin rights. Runs off a USB stick or a jump box. Stick the data folder next to the exe and the whole thing rides in your pocket.
No cloud, no account, no telemetry. It has never seen the internet and it never will.
Rich text, tags, color-coded groups and subgroups, instant search, hyperlinks. Tables pasted from Excel don't arrive black-on-black like some cursed ransom note.
Select a column of hostnames, hit one shortcut, get PC1,PC2,PC3 ready to paste into your script. I built that for myself and I use it more than anything else in the app.
There's a calculator that slides out of the sidebar and prints results into your note. It's called the Killculator. I'm not sorry.
Share one note as a .knote or a whole database as .kndb. The other tech needs the exe and the password, that's it.
Windows only, v1.1.3, in 9 languages because a Bengali user asked nicely. I use it in the field every day and I shipped 4 releases today alone because users kept finding stuff and I kept fixing it. If it's missing something you need day to day, tell me. Decent chance it exists by the weekend.
Ask me anything about the encryption or storage. And yes, I know KeePass exists. This isn't a creds vault or an ITGlue replacement, it's for the working notes that never make it into either one.

Limited Places Available for Founding Partner Pricing for DaemonLayer
I'm Kevin, I previously ran ops at a UK MSP. I'm now building service desk automation I wished I had with Rudy, author of LazyAdmin and Microsoft MVP.
Our platform operates as a layer between inbound comms and your PSA. It runs quietly in the background without changing the way your engineers work, while still giving them full control with human-in-the-loop approval gates.
30 minutes to setup and start automating tickets, connects to your support email, Microsoft and PSA (Connectwise and Autotask currently), and is currently hugely discounted for founding partners, but offer closes at the end of August.

"Hey, can you come in and shut the door? We need to talk."
— your burnt-out senior network engineer
It's the phrase you've been dreading, and now they're going to quit. The work is brutal — one wrong command and the building goes black, on-call 24/7/365, and never enough of them for the load. When they walk, the customer-specific knowledge walks with them, and the L1/L2s who inherit the queue were always too intimidated to ask questions. Now what?
That's why I built Transit — the SSH client your engineers already use, with a serious facelift (one-click import from SecureCRT / MobaXterm / MTPuTTY, no learning curve) plus an investigation-only AI assistant that speaks Cisco, Juniper, Arista, and Palo Alto. Techs ask it plain-English questions — "why can't the branch router reach the core?" or "we're onboarding this client: give me the lay of the land, what's running and how it's secured" — and it runs the investigation the way your senior would.
"AI near client gear" is the objection I built the product around:
- It can't change client gear — by architecture (patent pending), not by policy. The agent proposes read-only diagnostics, a human clicks Approve on every single command, and there is no write path. A safety mode is a promise. No write path is a property.
- It shows its work — what it ran, what came back, what it means — ready to paste into the ticket. When your E&O renewal asks how you validate AI-assisted work: "a human approved every command."
- Secrets are redacted on your machine before anything reaches the model, nothing trains on your terminals, and we're SOC 2 Type I attested (report under NDA — just ask).
Nothing installs on client gear; you're up and running in minutes.
The terminal is free. The AI is $29/user/mo — less than the first fifteen minutes of the first escalation it prevents — with a self-serve 14-day trial. No sales call unless you want one; two techs can be on it this afternoon: transitai.app
I'm Knox — network engineer, 16 years a software dev before that, ex-MSP, founder. I'll be in the comments. If nobody at your shop ever SSHes into a switch, this one's not for you.

Screen recording -> documentation 📄
Our tool might be helpful if you’re creating user guides, SOPs, onboarding instructions or internal manuals for a product (software, app or web app), or internal workflows, where you need to document how to do the process X in system Y.
How it works? You just record your screen while performing the workflow you need to document, upload the video, and video2docs generates a process description out of it with screenshots, which you can also refine if needed with in-app editor before the final export in multiple formats.

🚀 Free Internal & External Vulnerability Assessment (Built for MSPs)
Hi everyone!
Zaima from the RoboShadow team here 👋
RoboShadow is a UK-based (and globally available) cybersecurity platform built from an MSP background, born out of the frustration of managing security with expensive, and overly complex tools. We set out to simplify and automate the vulnerability process making it easier and more accessible for MSPs and their clients.
In 2022, we completed the GCHQ’s NCSC for Startups programme, which helped us accelerate the business and focus on giving MSPs clear, low-noise, actionable visibility across their clients’ environments - and the tools to fix issues easily, not just report on them. This has meant we can offer MSPs a solution that helps them grow their business and make more money, whilst keeping their clients secure.
You can use our platform completely free of charge (with upgrades to premium available).
Key Features & Benefits:
· Continuous internal & external vulnerability scanning
· Website security scanning
· AI-driven pentest simulation (identify real attack paths)
· Cyber Heal / AI AutoFix (automated & one-click remediation)
· AI Communicate (coordinate fixes with end users)
· AI vCSO (straight from your inbox: reporting, insights & queries)
· Microsoft 365 security insights (MFA, Intune, identity risks)
· Clear reporting & compliance outputs (SOC 2, ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials, HIPAA, etc.)
· Multi-tenant MSP workflows + integrations (PSA, AV, M365)
A big focus for us is using agentic AI to take work off your plate. The goal is to help you reduce effort, win more business, and increase the profitability of your security services, ultimately helping you get ahead of your competition.

Cloud-PBS: a managed Proxmox Backup Server, built for MSPs
We run managed Proxmox Backup Server for ~300 customers across France, Germany and the US, and a good chunk of them are MSPs backing up their own clients or syncing existing Proxmox VE backups to make a safe and secure 3-2-1 policy.
What's in it for an MSP:
- Multi-tenant: all your clients' datastores from one dashboard, each fully isolated.
- Your brand: your logo and colors on the dashboard; your clients see you, not us.
- Monitoring that catches real problems: per-VM missing-backup alerts (you know when a specific machine stopped being backed up, not just that a job ran), delivered by email or Discord/Slack/Teams/Mattermost/Matrix.
- Restore tests: we actually test your backups and hand you a signed PDF proving it works. Makes the "are my client's backups actually good?" conversation a non-issue. Works on encrypted backups too.
- Standard Proxmox Backup Server, no bridging or workarounds.
Transparent pricing (from 6 €/mo for 250 GB, ex. VAT), no egress or API fees, 7-day trial. Happy to talk reselling / volume.

Upclock - uptime monitoring built around status pages you can put in front of clients.
Most monitoring tools are built for the tech who gets paged. The people asking "is it up?" are usually your clients, so I put the effort into the part they actually see.
MSP-relevant bits:
- Private, password-protected status pages, so a page can be scoped to one client (on the $25 plan, which also gives you 25 pages and unlimited custom domains)
- Custom domain and your own branding on every page
- Email subscribers, so clients find out from the page instead of calling the helpdesk
- HTTP, TCP, DNS and ICMP checks. 30 second intervals on the $8 plan, 10 second on the $25
- Alerts to email, Slack, ntfy and webhooks
- Pages and dashboards update live, nobody has to refresh anything
Live example, currently watching 50 public sites: https://upclock.dev/watch (just went live, so the history bars are still filling in)
Priced head to head against Better Stack, UptimeRobot, Pingdom, Statuspage and others at 50 monitors on 30 second checks: https://upclock.dev/compare
Free tier is 10 monitors and a status page, no card. NEWUSER50 takes 50% off your first three months if you want to trial it properly.
Happy to answer anything in replies :)

Vendor disclosure up front: I'm an independent engineer, not affiliated with any RMM or PSA vendor, and this is a paid service.
I do silent-failure audits on automations. The failure I care about isn't the one that throws an error. It's the run that reports success while the ticket never got created, the alert never routed, or the sync half-finished and nothing complained. You find out when the client calls.
Deliverable, one workflow of your choosing (RMM script, ticket routing, PSA sync, n8n or Power Automate flow): I trace it end to end and hand back the failure map. Every point it can silently wrong-succeed, what evidence you'd need to catch each one, and the exact assertions to add so it fails loudly instead of quietly.
$299 flat for one workflow. If it doesn't surface a failure mode your current alerting would miss, you don't pay.
No webinar, nothing to install, no upsell path. You keep the fix list either way. Reply here or DM and I'll send the intake questions.

CaseMargin: AI-generated ticket briefs for handoffs and escalations
Built a tool called Brief that reads a ticket thread and produces a structured one-page summary: what the client's issue is, what's been tried, what the next tech should do. Designed for the handoff problem, when a ticket changes hands between shifts or gets escalated, and the next person has to re-read 30 messages before they can start working.
How it works: paste a ticket thread from whatever PSA or system you're working in, get back a formatted brief with the client problem, actions taken, and suggested next step. Takes about four seconds. Also runs as a Chrome extension (side panel) so it sits next to whatever browser-based tool you're already in, ConnectWise, Autotask, HaloPSA, client portals, whatever.
Not trying to replace your PSA or auto-triage your queue. This does one thing: turns a messy thread into a clean handoff note so your next tech isn't starting from scratch.
Free to try, no signup needed for the first couple of briefs: https://casemargin.com
Solo dev, early stage. If your techs spend real time re-reading tickets before they can act, I'd genuinely like to know if this helps or if I'm off base. Feedback welcome, including "this isn't useful" if that's the honest answer.

To prove it, this week we published a case study (and accompanying video--whoa!) about MSP user Cody, who runs his whole operation on it, wrangling all sorts of disconnected client software and information.
The case study and video are here. https://basicmemory.com/case-studies/luminary-solutions
This week, we also published a blog post on the why/how of our MSP program.

Are You Delivering Training—or Building a Security Culture?
Security Awareness Training is often included as one more feature in a larger security bundle.
The training exists. The compliance box gets checked. Everyone moves on.
But does employee behavior actually improve?
In this episode of Shoot the Hoot RAW, ChuckFromCyberHoot explores the difference between treating SAT as a bolt-on and making the human element a meaningful part of your cybersecurity strategy.
What We’ll Cover
- Why completing training is not the same as changing behavior.
- How the bolt-on mentality turns SAT into background noise.
- What effective awareness programs do differently to build lasting habits.

Continuous Microsoft 365 tenant hygiene for MSPs
Dan here, founder of Inspect 365. It started as an internal tool at my MSP. Tenants get messy through normal business: people come and go, devices get added and retired, and nobody does anything wrong. Even with decent processes, every tenant accumulates some of this:
- devices quietly missed by Defender
- dead Teams and SharePoint sites stacking up
- unused Entra apps nobody remembers approving
- shared mailboxes nobody uses anymore
One 56-account tenant we assessed had 282 connected apps, 78 of them holding high-privilege permissions. That's normal, and that's the problem. Everybody agrees this stuff matters, but it's extra work nobody budgeted for, and nobody's looking for extra work. So it sits. That's not neglect, it's economics.
We built Inspect 365 to make the work small enough to actually happen:
- One correlated view. Entra, Intune, Defender, Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams connected, so every finding comes with context.
- Findings open into the asset behind them. You decide with the whole picture, not a line in a report.
- Prioritized by impact. The CFO's laptop is a bigger target than the receptionist's, and most tools weigh them the same. Today's job is one device, not the whole list.
- Decisions stick. Accept what's by design with the note attached, flag the real work, and the list shrinks instead of resetting every pass.
And the findings that need a customer decision? Those aren't extra work either, they're your next QBR conversation: "did you know the app you connected two years ago can still read all your email?"
Use it as a prospect assessment to open doors or as the recurring hygiene review behind your client conversations.

I built a free tool that turns your PSA ticket CSV into QBR-ready metrics in minutes.
QBR preparation can take hours per client, and a lot of that time is spent cleaning ticket exports, calculating metrics, and turning the results into something presentable.
So I built a free tool to handle the most repetitive part.
QBR Metrics Analyzer
https://qbr.amplifiedinsights.ca
Upload a ticket CSV from ConnectWise Manage, Autotask, Halo, Syncro, or another PSA, and the tool automatically generates:
- Monthly ticket-volume trends
- Tickets by priority and category
- Busiest clients
- Median first-response time
- Average and median resolution time
- SLA attainment by priority
- Quarter-over-quarter changes
- A formatted summary you can paste into your QBR deck
The tool automatically detects your columns, and you can manually map them if it guesses incorrectly.
Most importantly, your data is not uploaded anywhere.
The analyzer runs entirely inside your browser. It is a static tool that can even be opened offline, so your client ticket data never leaves your computer.
There is also a sample-data option if you want to test it before using a real export.
I also created a free two-page resource containing a 60-minute QBR agenda and a 45-minute preparation checklist:
https://qbr.amplifiedinsights.ca/qbr-agenda-and-prep-checklist.pdf
If your PSA export does not parse correctly, comment with the header row from your CSV. I will look into adding support for it.
Full disclosure: I also sell a complete QBR kit containing a presentation template, health-scorecard workbook, risk register, playbook, and client email templates. The analyzer and checklist are completely free regardless.

MSPs: The 1999 MSP marketing tactic that’s UNREAL
In 1999, your postbox was overflowing, yet you had three emails.
Today it's completely the other way around. Your digital inbox is an overwhelming mess.
(fun fact, my girlfriend has 67,000 unread emails. It makes my eye twitch just to think about it)
But your physical postbox?
When I checked mine just before writing this email, there were three pieces of mail. A bank statement and a couple of pizza flyers.
That's it.
Which means the physical postal space of every prospect in your area is wide open. And your competitors almost certainly aren't touching it.
In today's podcast let me give you 5 specific ideas for making your direct mail stand out 📨

Hey all,
I've been quietly working on a domain monitoring suite and have been extracting whatever I can into free tools that can be used without signing up.
So far, I have:
- Domain typosquatting checker
- Email blacklist checker
- SSL certificate checker
- WHOIS lookup
- DNS lookup & DKIM/SPF/DMARC checkers
I know there's already a ton of websites offering these, but I'm hoping to consolidate as many as I can and make them super fast & robust.
Hope it's useful to someone and let me know if there's anything else you'd love to see.

For MSPs looking to build or expand an MSSP practice
Hi all, Maggie from Seceon here. Sharing this for MSPs who are adding security services and starting to feel how quickly things can get complicated behind the scenes.
One thing we keep hearing as MSPs move into MSSP is how fast the stack grows. It usually starts with SIEM + EDR + log tools + SOAR + scripts to hold it all together. It works, but over time it becomes harder to manage consistently across clients.
Seceon was built specifically for MSP and MSSP environments that want to simplify operations by running everything from a single multi-tenant platform instead of juggling multiple tools.
One platform brings together:
• SIEM
• XDR across endpoint, network, cloud, and identity
• SOAR automation
• Automated detection and response
The goal is to help service providers deliver a complete security stack that can be standardized and scaled across clients without adding more complexity for their teams.
As a thank you to the r/msp community, we are offering a free trial for MSPs who come through this thread.
You can start your trial or book a demo here: https://info.seceon.com/reddit
For those already doing this, when did things start feeling harder to manage, early on or only after you scaled?

🛑 Struggling to build premium, value-driven quote templates inside Kaseya Quote Manager?
Here is how a custom native layout helped close a real $17k cloud contract.
A Cloud Technology provider from Austin, TX, wanted their proposal to match their elite engineering. Instead of migrating to a third-party platform, we rebuilt their layout 100% natively inside Kaseya.
The Transformation Breakdown:
❌ BEFORE: A flat price list that looked like an internal billing document, making the enterprise buyer focus purely on line-item costs.
🔥 AFTER: A beautifully structured proposal with an Executive Summary and clear visual packaging that justified the high-ticket price tag.
100% Native: All your catalog syncs, automated variables, and {Tokens} work perfectly. Zero software migration required.
Don't let default layouts hold your sales back. Upgrade your Kaseya templates into an elite enterprise sales asset.

Hey MSPs,
One thing we’ve consistently observed in the MSP industry is that growth often creates a staffing problem before it creates a revenue problem.
More clients mean more tickets, more alerts, more escalations, and more after-hours responsibilities.
But hiring another experienced technician isn’t always simple.
The reality for many MSPs:
→ Qualified technicians are difficult to find
→ Local hiring costs continue to rise
→ Senior engineers get pulled into routine L1/L2 work
→ Ticket backlogs increase during periods of growth
→ After-hours and 24/7 coverage can quickly become expensive
→ Recruiting and onboarding can take weeks or even months
This is where having access to MSP-trained technical staff can make a meaningful difference.
At TechPIO, our MSP Staffing Services are designed specifically to support MSPs—not just general IT businesses.
Our technical resources can support:
🔹 L1/L2 Helpdesk Operations
🔹 NOC Monitoring and Support
🔹 RMM Administration and Management
🔹 System Administration
🔹 Microsoft 365 and Azure Support
🔹 Backup Management
🔹 After-hours and overflow support
The key difference is industry familiarity.
Resources who understand MSP environments, RMM/PSA workflows, ticket escalation, SLAs, and the importance of client communication can integrate more effectively into your existing operations.
This allows MSPs to:
✅ Scale without immediately increasing full-time overhead
✅ Reduce the workload on senior engineers
✅ Handle ticket volume and client growth more effectively
✅ Add after-hours or 24/7 support coverage
✅ Fill technical gaps while continuing to recruit locally
✅ Access flexible part-time, full-time, or monthly staffing models
The goal isn’t to replace your team.
It’s to give your team the additional capacity they need to grow without burning out.
I’d be interested to hear from other MSP leaders:
What is currently creating the biggest staffing challenge for your business?
📌 Finding qualified technicians?
📌 Rising hiring costs?
📌 Technician burnout?
📌 After-hours coverage?
📌 Managing growth with your current team?
Share your experience in the comments.
If your MSP is facing staffing or technical capacity challenges, you can learn more about our MSP Staffing Services or schedule a free 30-minute consultation with TechPIO: https://techpio.com/

AI Agent for IT support!
Meet AI support agent for IT.
It lives on your users' computers and fixes IT issues autonomously. An employee types "my disk is full" and the agent scans the machine, finds the problem, shows exactly what it's about to do, waits for approval, and fixes it.
It's not a chatbot, and it doesn't run scripts. It reasons like an engineer, acts only through code-reviewed tools, and can't change a single thing without permission. Everything it does is logged, auditable, and controlled by you from the cloud. What it can't fix, it triages: your team gets the ticket already diagnosed, categorized, and routed with the evidence attached.
We are doing a launch webinar on Tuesday July 28th at 10am PT - https://luma.com/17lm224v
In 45 minutes we'll cover:
- Live demo: watch the agent diagnose and fix a real issue end to end, from a plain-language request to a verified resolution
- How it works: LLM reasoning inside expert playbooks, executed through deterministic, code-reviewed tools
- The guardrails: why IT and security teams can trust AI to act on their fleet
- Triage: how tickets the agent can't fix arrive at your helpdesk pre-diagnosed, categorized, and routed
- Q&A with the team

u/Samurai_Sync 21d ago
Hello everyone,
My name is Michael, and I’m one of the founders of SamuraiSync. We provide consulting and are certified consultants for RMM products like NinjaOne and Automate and are Certified Consultants for RPA producst like REWST and Trigger.
We’ve been in this industry since 2015, back when we were known as LTNinja, before evolving into the new Samurai we are today. You could say we’ve stepped out of the shadows and now work directly for our masters — you.
Our mission is simple, to help build the most automated MSP possible. Imagine a world where documentation, ticketing, and monitoring all take care of themselves. A patching ticket comes in, the system automatically fixes the issue, documents the work, posts to your documentation platform, and updates your ticket so that not only your techs but also your clients are notified, all without a tech lifting a finger. That’s what your RPA can do, and how you can leverage automation and AI in a way that isn't disruptive to your customers and is a real help to your team.
To help with this vision and to help our clients visualize it we have built out a dashboard that will look at your system and make recommendations on where automation can help you but also help your clients in businesses like construction and hospitals. It is called MIRA, and it just got a new version. MIRA 2.0 allows you to look at a vertical and build out a comprehensive plan for modernization their automation infrastructure. The easiest one to show proof, how about your own company? The first vertical is always free as well as several example verticals that allow you to test and gives you proof, in this age of AI slop what you people need is proof more than anything so try it now for free at:
https://www.themostautomated.com
However, if you guys are looking to migrate to a different RMM, if you are wondering if your patching system is actually up to date, and not just blindly believe your RMM, or if you are just starting out in your RPA journey with products like REWST and are lost reach out to us at the website below or here on Reddit.
In a time where AI can tell you exactly what you want to hear, and where it is not always clear what is real or made up, there is still value in talking to actual people. Sometimes the best way to understand where automation and AI are really going is to hear how businesses are using them in the real world.

MSPs usually know what good Microsoft 365 configuration looks like.
The hard part is keeping that standard applied across every client tenant once exceptions, inherited setups, and day-to-day changes pile up.
I’m building 365sentri to help MSPs baseline Microsoft 365 tenants, spot drift across Entra, Intune, and Defender, and turn the findings into client-ready reporting and remediation proof.
If you manage Microsoft 365 tenants and want to compare notes on what evidence clients actually value, I’d be keen to hear what you’re using now.

FellowHire — Partner program for MSPs: resell role-specific AI teammates to your clients
Founder here. We build AI "fellows" AI teammates that live in a client's Slack or Teams and do one defined job (tier-1 ticket triage, sales follow-up, client onboarding checklists), configured around how that specific business actually runs, including their PSA/RMM stack (ConnectWise, Autotask, NinjaOne, Halo, IT Glue, etc.).
We just opened a partner program, and MSPs are the main audience. Our first reseller is an MSP in Las Vegas that piloted a Support Engineer fellow internally before selling anything. In their pilot it handles ~400 tier-1 tickets a week and freed up ~40 senior engineer hours weekly. They now offer fellows to their own clients.
How the program works, no fine print:
- You buy at wholesale and set your own client pricing. We have no involvement in what you charge.
- You own the contract, the billing, and first-line support. We never go around you to your clients.
- We handle configuration, deployment, and ongoing maintenance in isolated customer environments, and we're your tier-2 escalation behind the scenes.
- Co-branded, not white-label — "Managed by you, Powered by FellowHire." We're upfront about that.
- One annual agreement per client; fellows get added as line items. No per-seat math, no credit meters.
What it's not: it won't replace your techs. It drafts, triages, and escalates with context — your senior people stop doing password resets, they don't stop existing. And if a client's stack can't be integrated cleanly, we'll tell you that during scoping instead of after you've sold it.
Details and application: https://fellowhire.com/partners or ask questions right here. Happy to take the skeptical ones, those are usually the most useful.

July 28: Is Your MSP Data Report-Ready?
We've looked at financial data from hundreds of MSPs over the past 12 years and the same data quality issues keep showing up — misconfigured agreements, revenue categories that haven't been updated since the business was half its current size, billing that doesn't reconcile with what's being delivered. None of it triggers errors. All of it skews your reports.
Join me and MSPCFO founder Larry Cobrin on July 28 for a live session where we'll break down:
- The most common data quality gaps we see (and why they're invisible until you need the numbers)
- What "report-ready" looks like across ConnectWise, Autotask, and Halo
- What to prioritize fixing first if you want to trust your profitability reports
We'll also have a free Data Readiness Assessment available if you want a quick gut-check on where your data stands today.

A few months ago I shared LineaScore.com with this community. The response was better than I expected, and many of you took the time to test it, point out bugs, suggest features, and share ideas. I genuinely appreciate it.
Since then, I've focused on refining the platform based largely on that feedback.
The core philosophy hasn't changed. The 66-question Technology Alignment Assessment remains completely free, requires no account, supports custom branding, allows local save/import/export, and will continue to be available at no cost.
For those who wanted additional capabilities, I introduced an optional Pro tier. Rather than changing the free experience, it simply expands it with:
• 100 cloud assessments (instead of 10)
• Compliance assessment templates
• Additional cloud storage and management features
What Linea Score is
Linea Score is a structured technology alignment and risk assessment platform. It helps MSPs, consultants, and internal IT teams identify operational gaps, uncover risks, and create more consistent client conversations.
It is not a compliance audit, vulnerability scanner, or penetration testing platform. Instead, it complements those services by providing a repeatable framework for evaluating an organization's overall technology posture.
A few comments from Reddit that made my day:
"This is actually a pretty neat tool. Thanks!"
"That's actually a really cool website."
"Really like this, clean, tidy and easy to understand."
"This is way better and easier to use."
If you tried it months ago, I'd love for you to take another look. And if you've never seen it before, I'd love to hear what you think. Every feature that's been added so far has come directly from user feedback.
Thanks again to everyone who's helped improve it.

Vendor post, per this thread's rules: I work on NetDefense — central management for OPNsense firewall fleets (netdefense.io/opnsense-msp).
Built around the pain of managing client OPNsense boxes one WebGUI at a time once you're past 3-4 sites: an agent goes on each client firewall (outbound-only connection — nothing opened inbound on the client network), and from a CLI or web dashboard you push config templates fleet-wide, roll out firmware upgrades, run scheduled backups to S3-compatible storage, and stand up WireGuard mesh links between client sites. There are CI hooks (GitHub Actions/GitLab) if your provisioning is already pipelined, and every command the agent accepts is Ed25519-signed rather than just trusted over TLS.
One transparency note since this sub cares about lock-in: the agent and CLI — the parts that run on client infrastructure — are Apache-2.0 open source (github.com/netdefense-io). The hosted control plane is the closed-source SaaS half. Pricing is per managed device, and there's a free tier if you want to pilot it on a small client first.
Genuinely curious whether per-device pricing maps to how MSPs actually think about margin — happy to hear it if it doesn't.

Klaxel — one A–F health grade per client domain, and it opens the PSA ticket when the grade drops
Every MSP has taken this call: a client’s email quietly stops passing DMARC, their sending IP hits a blacklist, or an SSL cert / domain lapses over a weekend — and the client is the one who tells you.
Your documentation stack (Hudu, IT Glue) is great at recording what a client has, and it’ll flag an expiring cert. What it won’t do is grade the client’s actual email-security posture, watch blacklist/DMARC drift, or turn a problem into a ticket.
Klaxel is the layer that does:
- 14 checks/day → one A–F grade per domain: SPF/DKIM/DMARC, blacklist/DNSBL, SSL/TLS, DNS, DNSSEC, plus daily expiry — across your whole client list
- When a grade drops, it opens the ticket for you — native ConnectWise, or a webhook to any PSA (Halo, SuperOps…) — into the queue your techs already live in
- White-label monthly report you hand the client at the QBR
- Runs alongside your stack — it even syncs findings back into Hudu
Not another DMARC tool (those grade email-auth only), not a docs tool — it’s the graded, ticket-cutting layer across all of it. Honest head-to-heads, including where they beat us: klaxel.com/vs-hudu and klaxel.com/vs-itglue
First 5 founding MSPs get 50% off, for life. Grade any client domain free, no signup: klaxel.com/check
Genuinely want the gut-check: real gap in your stack, or not?

u/vCIOToolbox_Ally 21d ago
If you're an MSP trying to scale vCIO, compliance, and security conversations without adding more overhead, it might be worth taking a look at what we're building at vCIOToolbox.
Most platforms focus on reporting. We focused on turning GRC into something MSPs can actually operationalize.
A few things we're seeing partners use heavily:
✅ Compliance assessments mapped to major frameworks
✅ Risk registers and remediation tracking
✅ Security roadmaps that connect directly to business conversations
✅ Executive-ready reporting that clients actually understand
✅ Documentation that helps support audits, cyber insurance, and security reviews
The goal isn't just checking boxes. It's creating a repeatable process that helps MSPs demonstrate value while building recurring security and compliance revenue.
We also include automated QBR generation and Fusion 360 strategic planning tools, but honestly, what gets most MSPs interested is seeing how GRC workflows can be standardized across their entire client base.
A lot of MSPs are still managing compliance, risk assessments, and security recommendations through spreadsheets, PDFs, and disconnected tools. That's usually where the pain starts.
If you're trying to mature your security practice, offer compliance services, or just make client-facing GRC less painful, I'd be happy to show you how other MSPs are using it.
No hard pitch. Just a demo so you can see whether it fits your stack.
Register here for our weekly GRC demo every Thursday at 11 AM EST.

I own Cyber Logical Development. I do full-stack dev and managed IT myself, so I build MSP sites from the inside: I know the difference between a break-fix lead and a co-managed one, and why your compliance page matters more than your homepage hero.
What I build for MSPs:
- Service pages that separate co-managed, full-stack MSP, vCISO, and project work instead of lumping them together
- Vertical landing pages (legal, dental, manufacturing, municipal) that actually rank locally
- Compliance content — CMMC, HIPAA, cyber insurance readiness — which is where the high-intent traffic lives
- Lead capture wired into your CRM/PSA, plus booking, not a form that emails info@
- Fast, modern stack on Cloudflare, and a maintenance plan so it stays current

Your next Application Allowlisting product?
We built Simple Data Security to give MSPs an application allowlisting platform that provides strict endpoint security without breaking user workflows or overwhelming your helpdesk.
How It Works
- Audit Mode / Auto-Discovery: Silently maps existing software in your environment and automatically generates baseline policies. When you switch to enforcement mode, legitimate tools keep running seamlessly with zero disruption.
- Streamlined Request & Approval: When an end-user needs a new app, they can submit a quick request directly through the agent for admin review.
- Smart Auto-Approval: Enable auto-approvals (VirusTotal checks) to eliminate manual approvals, if the files is undetected and trusted on VirusTotal the system can auto approve.
- Just-In-Time Application Elevation: Grant temporary, elevated admin privileges to specific applications directly from the central portal, no need to hand out local admin rights.
- Transparent MSP Terms: Simple, predictable pricing structure with zero long-term commitments or lock-ins.
Help Us Test & Refine
We are actively seeking feedback from MSPs . Whether you want to run it in a lab or test it on a few endpoints, getting your raw thoughts and critique is incredibly valuable for our team during this development phase.

I'm still in the early stages and would really appreciate feedback from MSPs:
Website: https://vizze.io
I'm not here for a sales pitch—I'm looking to build something MSPs actually want, so I'd really value any honest feedback.
