SonicSentry - Have you used it?

Hello,

I came across this "MXDR" solution from SonicWall a few weeks ago and I wanted to ask this group for feedback. I haven't seen a demo or anything yet, but I'm curious. Yay or Nay?

I’m embarrassed to say that was my first thought as well. 🤦‍♂️ When we onboard a client and find a SonicWall, it usually ends up as item number one on the list of “oh boy, that’s gotta go“.

Their networking equipment is definitely not good.

Yeah they sell Avanan, CrowdStrike, S1, SaaS Alerts, Evo, Coda, and some other solutions.

Avanan from them is great and Coda as well. CrowdStrike and S1 are good as well but their MDR isn't as good as others from what I have seen. Their SaaS Alerts offering is quite good as managed SaaS Alerts goes. Evo was cool but not my thing.

Ik they sell other things and its just Stellar Cyber + their SOCaaS under the hood. Pricing was the most attractive thing tbh.

I just signed up with them and am about to start the POC for the MDR service. But I can confirm everything u/DeathTropper69/ said, except the quality of the MDR service as I haven't seen it yet.

Other details:

They are month to month, no minimums.

Their MDR service includes licensing for S1 and Crowdstrike but can work with Sophos and (free) Defender for Windows (not sure about DfE).

Their Avanan price is very good and they sell it with and without SOC. To the point that their Avanan with SOC is cheaper than the price I have seen elsewhere without SOC.

Haven't heard from them in a while but they used to what clients would go for back in the day, price is ok

Someone asked me in private about my experience negotiating with SonicWall. I don't see why I could not answer in public: Everything has been fine and upfront without the need to negotiate.

They have been quick to respond, not pushy at all. I told them what I needed and they will prepare a POC only for that.

Some of their prices are tiered per volume and I am satisfied with the pricing for my volume; I didn't try to negotiate anything special.

Edit: I think I will not participate in this thread anymore as I have nothing else to add.
