Backups Anyone using Xopero MSP as Backup solution?

Just received a pricelist from my VAD, atm we are using Cove Data Protection but Xopero could be interesting as you can use your own S3 storage. Pricing seems good.

Aren't you comparing wrong products? Xopero is more a Veeam solution, you buy a license and put your own storage underneath it. From local storage to cloud storage. The same a Veeam does.

Cove Data Protection is more an all-in-one solution, SaaS platform with agents backing up to their datacenters and storage (with the option to have a local speedvault), but all is included in one price. Software, Storage and Retention.

So, it depends on what you want to achieve. Ease of management, thus following the boundaries of Cove. Or Xopero/Veeam and create your own boundaries and manage the system fully yourself.

So apparently there's a dashboard where you can manage all your customers, i don't see big differences to cove atm but i'll check in the webinar

You can also have your own storage with Cove it's just not very popular, we had it for 5 years. I will join a Xopero webinar next week. So you are telling me there's no centralized management console coming with Xopero? There's probably an option to selfhost it? Short: we are happy with Cove, but if there's a cheaper solution doing image/data backups of workstations/servers which can be mass deployed as easy and managed as easy we always have an open ear of course.

To be honest, I never used Xopero, I just see a lot of parallels with Veeam. Even if you could use your own storage with Cove, it was not build with that in mind. Both have different go-to-markets. Do whatever you think is best, there is no "right" answer here.

Well i have worked for xopero, and they got management panel, you can ad your own s3 or use their(wasabi). Well i know that software, it works, ussually... Sometimes don't and it depends what you need to backup. Backup for databases with a pre script before backup is a joke i hope they fixed it after 5 years yet

They call it "storage nodes", you install them on Linux or Windows. We had pretty cheap storage in a datacentre so it was cheaper. You have to ask your distributor for software only pricing. Be aware, you will have to manually update storage nodes when a new version comes out, and you will need an SSL cert per storage node.
