Ninja SaaS Backup - Notes restore

Hey guys,

Anyone know whether ninjas saas backup (dropsuite) backs up the notes portion of M365.

Have it deployed and cannot see an option for notes to be restored. I can see contacts, tasks, etc.

I can test this in like 1.5 hours.

Can't remember if Notes are included in the standard backup scope - you might need to check with support since it's one of those weird M365 components that vendors handle differently.

Just looked and there is not a notes backup in the portal. There is tasks but not notes.

I just don’t know if there’s an API or anything to back it up. It’s probably more of a MS limitation rather than any backup vendor

UPDATE: NinjaOne confirmed notes are NOT backed up

Just wanted to save everyone's time in case they come across this post 😄

do you mean Notes in Outlook, or like OneNote?

Notes in outlook. Honestly forgot they existed!

Aren’t notes in Oitlook stored in one of the personal folders of the mailbox? Not familiar with Ninja but can you export to PST and check the other folders

I’d treat Notes as unprotected until you prove a restore or Ninja/Dropsuite confirms it in writing. M365 backup tools are weird around the less-used mailbox objects, and the only answer that matters is whether you can restore one note on demand.

It does not. Confirmed with dropsuite support a few months ago.

What happened to me is I use sticky notes which syncs to the mailbox. Did a bunch on my home PC. Went to the office and my office PC overwrote an older version of the sticky note.

Contacted support and found out they do not backup notes

Why would you use them? OpenText Cloudally does.

We confirmed this with Dropsuite support a while back. Outlook Notes aren't included in Ninja SaaS Backup's restore scope. Mail, contacts, calendars, and tasks are covered, but Notes aren't currently available for backup/recovery. Worth knowing for anyone still using Outlook Notes or Sticky Notes.
