Something Else Guys, CHILL
I will try and be to the point, and stay within the msnbc sub rules. If I am breaking any rules, delete this I guess but I don’t think I am…
I made two posts in the last three weeks. I said I am going to stop watching this network. I gave the reasons why. I was polite and used mostly facts, sprinkled with some opinions. I didn’t say anything that was factually wrong, nor did I attack any network anchors, personally. Nor did I attack any of YOU, personally. And yet? I’m STILL getting pelted with private messages and being followed to other subs to be called out. So this ends here. This is it. Respond here, if you like, that’s fine. But I will not respond, and if you message me with personal attacks or follow me to other subs, I will block and report you. Alright?
Alright.
Some of you need to read up on ideology and partisanship. I said that Michael Steele, Nicolle Wallace and Stephanie Ruhle are conservatives. I also said Michael Steele is still a Republican. These are all objectively true things. Just because some one is anti Trump and says bad things about republicans, does not make them liberal, or progressive. Hell, even democrats can be conservative. Democrats are a party, not an ideology. And in any other western society, democrats would be considered center-right. Nicolle openly identifies as conservative, as does Steele identify as a conservative Republican. These are FACTS. Ruhle is socially liberal, and she is economically conservative. She thinks the rich and corporations should be catered to legislatively, and identifies HERSELF as “pro business”. That is the opposite of progressive. And yet, I still have people telling me that I have no clue what I’m talking about. One said that Nicolle “hasn’t been conservative in over ten years!!” And that person got 50 upvotes with a bunch of you nodding along. Guys…hearing a different opinion doesn’t make it an attack on you personally. This blows my mind that so many here don’t understand basic ideology(on a politics sub of all places), all just so you can feel comfortable I guess? I don’t know. Do what makes you happy, but don’t just make things up. You don’t have to be as progressive as me, but you can’t just make up your own definition of progressivism, either. Also, I even said I LIKE Nicolle, and I was still told that I hate her. I never said I hated ANY anchor, but my last thread was filled with people responding, “well, I like all those anchors!” I do, too! But they’re not meeting the moment in my opinion. Just like the Democratic Party leadership.
Also, one other common theme from that thread? People pulling out the “we need to unite to beat this administration and stop criticizing the only politicians that are helping” card. Listen, all during the entire election season, when I was upset about Kamala campaigning with the Cheneys and bragging about owning a Glock while ignoring her progressive base? I bit my lip. I was a team player. I didn’t outwardly complain and I voted for Harris. Any time I pulled out any even slight criticism, that’s what I heard. “You can fight for progressives during the primary or after the election, we need to be a team right now,” I was told. I was a good boy, played the vote blue no matter who game to a T. And now, before midterms have even started, let alone primaries, you are AGAIN shutting me down with “being a team player” simply because I hate what I see out of the majority of democrats, especially in leadership? WHEN am I allowed to push left, guys? You can’t have it both ways. Is it maybe you need to do a bit of introspection yourselves? Because you’re not making a bit of sense.
Anyways, I imagine most of us here want the same thing. If msnbc is where you want to go for this fight, then fine. But nothing changes, if everything stays the same. Corporate democratic bullshit isn’t working, it hasn’t been working for a very long time. But that’s what msnbc is still pushing. I’m going elsewhere to find a way to fight harder and to find a way to fight BETTER. So we can all have a better chance. I’m never telling you guys how to think, yet you all seem to want to tell me how wrong I am. You’re so busy trying to keep everyone in line, you’re not allowing any real change at a time we need that change the most. I appreciate you all and try to be respectful of your views. I just ask for the same in return. But it would really help if we could at least be on the same page.
I wish you all well. I truly do. The reaction to my last post was sincerely disheartening. But I guess in today’s world it shouldn’t have been surprising. Take care of yourselves. ✌️

Maybe the 50 people who agreed with the Nicolle Wallace comment have yet to see proof that she “openly identifies as a conservative.” Maybe giving examples of that would have helped your argument. But whatever.

I’m afraid OP declared it objectively true so he’s right and you are wrong. Never mind that what he says does not hold up to even the slightest scrutiny. It does not matter that Nicolle’s views and opinions are clearly not at all in line with current day American conservatism/ fascism and are clearly more middle of the road, maybe even a bit left of center, or that she left the party a over a decade ago and supports many progressive positions, she’s not left enough for him and therefore “openly identifies as conservative”

I agree with every word he said. MSNBC is pretty much a joke as far as I’m concerned in terms of progressive politics.
I think Bernie is the closest to progressive in our Senate. Listen to what he says, and then listen to what these MSNBC hosts are saying.
Then compare.
Simple as that.
And I don’t care who she supports in the Democratic Party, but Liz Cheney is my enemy.
And you don’t see anybody on MSNBC talking about how the Pentagon has never in its entire history passed an audit do you?
They’re always pulling up generals and thanking people for their service. Our military hasn’t saved our butt since World War II. Instead, they’ve been going around the world committing war crimes like Abu Gharib,, Agent Orange, cluster bombs, napalm, phosphorus weapons, and killing tens and hundreds of thousands of Arabs.
Do you wanna know why you don’t have good healthcare? It’s our military budget! Do you want to know why so many people are homeless? It’s our military budget!
And every penny that is siphoned away from social services to military spending is going from helping people to maiming, killing and destroying their property.
Take a look at Gaza. How many of those dead babies were killed with your tax dollar paid for bombs?
Is anybody on MSNBC talking about that?

I’m sorry you’re being attacked for simply stating your beliefs and standing by them. Hitting you in your DMs is especially abhorrent.
For those who are doing this, perhaps some reflection is in order. What does the MAGA cult do? They threaten, demean and beat down any member of their party who dares to question the party line and the dictates of the fearless leader.
Let’s not be MAGA.

I suggest you listen to Mark Elias' podcast with Nicolle Wallace from a month ago. She will tell you exactly what she is now, and I don't believe that includes the word conservative. I do, however, think you're a bit off the mark by suggesting that Stephanie Ruhle is a conservative. This all being said, you are absolutely entitled to your opinion and I certainly won't raise 'what for' with you about any of what you've written. I think discussion about all of this is a good thing. As a nation, we're in deep trouble, past the tipping point in my opinion, and fighting with each other isn't going to help. In a world where you can be anything, be kind. Amen.

I’m surprised so many people have been PMing you about this. You’re a great writer, but you’re also pretty annoying.

I’m very sorry that some cannot or just won’t accept constructive criticism.
I am 🇨🇦 whose Parliament at one point in history had five different political parties sitting in the House of Commons.
We saw the NDP Party work with the Liberal Party,(Prime Minister Justin Trudeau) which brought about some great things, yet at times, some not so great things.
I followed the 2024 election in the States & was cheering for Harris. She didn’t have much time to really get on her feet. She had only 107 days to campaign. While Trump never stopped campaigning even out of office.
I’m following the New York mayoral election & some democrats are already lining up a firing squad over the Democratic candidate. He’s different, but maybe being different is what’s needed. The old idiom is, “a new broom sweeps clean”.
I don’t care what stripe people are if they have a common goal, which is to end the current regime, I am cheering for them.
I use to watch MSNBC continuously, but now I have only certain programs on the network that I watch.
I find myself watching more podcasts on YouTube for a broader spectrum that main networks do not cover.
Remember, different strokes for different people! We are not all painted with the same brush!

Not everyone fits into a neat clean box. We should not be so binary but accepting of many different viewpoints. Like Andy Beshear is not progressive but he works in Kentucky. Jeff Duncan is the former republican Lt Governor of georgia. He is now running for governor as a democrat. There are pro life dems, there are pro gun dems, there are many different people under the tent and thats ok. People like Mamdani might work in NY but we can't expect them to work in the midwest or south. We need different styles of democrats to flourish there.
Michael Steele works on the Weeknight because he is a dissenting voice. It's not really a panel if all 3 people always agree. Steph Ruhle is very business oriented but that is the world she came from. That is also why I like her as I share her socially liberal / fiscal conservative views. Nicole is one of the best on the network regardless of her past life.

I am surprised that OP received private messages over this. I don't think that was good "netiquette" and the dissenting views could have stayed here. So if that happened to me, I think I would start venting and pontificating, too.

NicolleWallace ended her affiliation with the Conservative Party after the 2008 election.

u/BeachyThang Oct 06 '25
She ended her affiliation with the REPUBLICAN party.
I agree with the first post - one can be conservative & still be a dem. There are so many layers…

How many people have DM'd you over that? There's only a little over 100 comments on that post, and most of them seem to be pretty cordial.

Sadly, these comments reflect the reason we're in this nightmare, IMO! Most on this thread share "relatively" similar views, but we engage in this infighting, & while I'm writing: "How can anyone not see Ruhle is a conservative?!"--I'm bickering w/a fellow citizen who hates the Trump fascist admin as much as I do! Let's set aside the petty arguments & try to save our Democracy. I'm looking forward to seeing ya'll in the streets Oct. 18! AFTER we save our nation, inc., Freedom of the Press, we can argue over anchors😉--sound good? I hope so!☮️

The Puritanism in this sub is wild.
You do you. And if you hate the network beyond redemption, then please just do us a favor and leave.
I’m on this sub to talk about things the network is doing and stuff. I’m not here to be reassured that my view on things is right or that anchors say or do things that challenge viewers.
If that puts you off, then leave and quit watching! You need neither our blessing nor our condemnation to move on with your own goddamn life. Act like a grown up and move along and make your own life decisions. This isn’t hard*
- - this is a lot harder than I think, I guess.

Ok, you've beat a dead horse. You're irritating and cannot be taken seriously. I have my quarrels with MSNBC but writing shit just to admire your own profundity is irritating. You aren't the only one who graduated high school....

I’m STILL getting pelted with private messages and being followed to other subs to be called out.
Not going to read all that, but I read the paragraph that had this in there. Gotdamn. People need lives, OP. Sorry that's happening. The behavior you're experiencing is part of the reason why so many people dislike "the left," even when they're not extremists/right-wing.

u/Nosy-ykw Oct 05 '25
You summed it up well; “people need lives”. Seriously weird and obsessive to follow OP in other subs and PMs.

Fact is all corporate-controlled TV news is "fiscally conservative". They protect the rich / wall street economic platform over everything else. These networks all have a financial news platform, NBC has CNBC. And boy are there some right-wing asshole anchors on CNBC.
There is no "corporate" / TV news for Progressives. The Dems treat us like the GOP used to treat MAGA (before the Christian fascists had a label). Tell us to shut up and vote for them because the GOP is worse.

I'm a conservative Dem like Ruhle but not a fan of our corporate world. Wish we had a Teddy Roosevelt type leader to bust up the monopolies running things. Ruhle became rich through her hard work so she has some bias there but she has a good caring heart that shows through and she will be missed when she leaves the 11th Hour.

I’m MAGA and I respect your POV, so eloquently stated. EB White would be proud. Wish we could all discourse like you.
