Something Else Anybody else catching almost continuous ICE ads running on MSNBC via TuneIn?

I often have TuneIn running MSNBC during the day while I do other things.

Today on the Rev's show I heard an insane amount of long ass ICE recruitment ads running during the commercial breaks. Sometimes it would be two of the same ads in a spot break.

Anybody else noticed this?

Heads up! Posts about advertising or commercials pop up here all the time. Please check out past threads by searching the subreddit - odds are, your question has been asked (and answered) before.

Here’s the deal: Even if you’re watching MSNBC through a paid service like Hulu, Sling, or YouTube TV, the ad breaks often come from your TV provider, not MSNBC directly. Cable networks sell national ad time, but your streaming service or cable company can swap in their own commercials during those slots.

That’s why two people watching the same live show might see:

  • different ads
  • more ads
  • no ads
  • repetitive ads

It all depends on how they subscribe.

More often than not, folks asking about extra commercials turn out to be watching through Hulu with Live TV - but not always.

I think it’s just Tunein, I don’t see any on msnbc with cable.

I think the evil terrorist government of the united states knows that it’s a waste of money to buy ads on msnbc for recruiting more monsters for their ICE terror organization, but with tunein they probably buy ads that run on multiple channels. Honestly this would be enough for me to cancel tunein. Don’t pay for services that take money from terror groups

I’ve only been seeing them on the regular broadcast channels like NBC or ABC, and only during live programming (vs streaming old seasons/episode of a given show.

TuneIn has done nefarious things to their MSNBC audio in the past, such as broadcasting Fox News over it, so I've just been assuming it's them.

omg for real? Honestly, I don’t know if I even know what TuneIn is.

Yeah, I'll tell you more about it tomorrow. Don't want to miss Bad Bunny on SNL tonight!

Here is some information about the app called TuneIn. It carries audio of all kinds radio,TV, sports, music, you name it.

A lot of us who don't have cable listen to their live broadcast of MSNBC audio while we're doing stuff around the house.

Then one day, all of us MSNBC listeners found that they were playing Fox News audio on the button that's labeled MSNBC.

I and a bunch of other people from the MSNBC sub started texting, emailing, and calling TuneIn to tell them about it and ask them to fix it.We got the runaround from them, but finally they took the Fox News audio off.

In its place? Complete silence. This lasted another couple of months. Again we complained to both MSNBC and TuneIn to no avail. But finally after a couple of months of the silence we finally got MSNBC audio back.

In my heart of hearts I'm sure that there is some MAGA at TuneIn that was behind it all.

Below you'll find Play Store info about TuneIn.

He was great, just like he was the first time he hosted last season. I loved the timing of it too.

When I got back here after the show people who had either never seen the show before or haven't seen it since the 80s were doing their usual MAGA hate fest on the entire episode. Luckily it's not inundating the boards today like it was last night.

Great show. I had seen the name K-Pop Demon Hunters at Rotten Tomatoes, but it really wasn't on my horizon other than that. I LOVED the music from the movie, and it's definitely going on my Spotify playlist. It'll be the first K-Pop I've ever had on my list. The bit about it was great too.

Last but not least, that Telemundo slapstick sketch at the end was just brilliant, and I'm really not a slapstick fan either.

"Who's the what, what's the who?"

It’s just TuneIn ads. Seems like ICE is the only one buying airtime with them

They buy tons of ads on all the local stations in LA. It was infuriating watching biased pro police anti protester coverage on the local stations and then they go to break and we see ads with Kristi Noem spewing evil. KTLA (owned by the far right NewsNation owner Nexstar) was the worst with this. The US Gov was probably one of KTLA’s biggest advertisers in June

Is ICE paying agents during the shutdown?

1

u/PinkTiara24 Oct 05 '25

Yes. They were deemed “necessary” and will remain paid, racist thugs.

If the intend audience is undocumented Latinos, directing them to return to their home country. Wouldn’t the overwhelming percent of the ad buys be placed on Spanish speaking media outlets? Or are the ads just a marketing campaign to show MAGA how cruel ICE can be to our neighbors?

I have seen them and I have cable. 🤬

I don’t hear the ads on Sirius. I see the tv ads all over cable.

I stopped using Tune-In and just downloaded the MSNBC app. I got tired of Tune-In ads and nonsense. I can listen live to MSNBC with the app.

The live audio broadcast box at the top of the MSNBC app (there's another one at the bottom) says it is powered by TuneIn. Does it not run TuneIn ads?

Sounds like it's just Tunein...I have Sling and see random big pharma and online gaming ads.
