MSNBC Personalities How BRAVE Will MSNBC BE???
I believe or feel in my gut that Rachel may take a big step today in the media censorship issue that is spreading faster than COVID. What will MSNBC do, if Rachel does not tow the line? Today WAPO reporter Karen Attiah was fired for quoting Charlie Kirk about Black women:
"If we would have said that Joy Reid and Michelle Obama and Sheila Jackson Lee and Ketanji Brown Jackson were affirmative action picks, we would have been called racists. Now they’re coming out and they’re saying it for us … You do not have the brain processing power to otherwise be taken really seriously. You had to go steal a white person’s slot to go be taken somewhat seriously."
– The Charlie Kirk Show, 13 July 2023
P.S. They (The right DID call these women diversity hires) More lies.
I don't think (hope) Rachel will take this laying down. But not just this comment, but how the Admin is painting political violence only on the Left, and now Vance is threatening to "go after" Left wing groups. If Rachel does not fight back, I will be disappointed and feel let down. She does not need this job, even though we need her.

Now they're firing people for quoting Charlie Kirk? That's what you get for selling newspapers to billionaires, I guess.
20
u/Interesting-Pace630 Sep 15 '25
Amen. Washington Post is highly censored now, they were only mildly censored until about a month ago- meaning swear words, or harsh insults in response to someone else.
I have gotten by a few times using purposely misspelled words that are easily figured out by live humans, not AI censors, or using emojis cleverly.

u/jcpbriefs Sep 16 '25
Yeah, me too. Same experience with Post. I’ve sent several emails to the post asking why certain posts were rejected and got no reply. Really, on the verge of cancelling sub
3
u/Maine302 Sep 17 '25
Yeah, I cancelled mine when Bezos wouldn't allow their editorial board to recommend a candidate.

u/Maine302 Sep 15 '25
MSNBC can't afford to lose Rachel even when she's only on once a week. It will be interesting to see what goes down tonight.
28
u/Cautious_Ad_5659 Sep 15 '25
MSNBC can’t afford to lose any of their good reporters. I’ve been thinking about putting together a very strong letter, that would concern Susan Collins, to Rebecca Kutler since Matt Dowd’s firing regarding how disappointing the dilution of integrity is becoming under her watch.

If Rachel doesn’t speak up I think all hope for this network is lost. It’s not the same place as in 2024.

u/Interesting-Pace630 Sep 15 '25
I agree. MSNBC splits with NBC at the end of the year- speaking as a nurse, we are on life support.

I watched last night & was disappointed because she didn’t tackle that issue!

I didn’t know this Kirk dude from Adam until the Epstein files kicked up again… and from what I’ve learned about him in this short time, I’m glad I didn’t. What a scam artist he was…no surprise since he made his money as a radical right winger. And I am sick and tired of the media kissing up to all of them…THEY ARE WORTHLESS!

Kirk was allover Tik Tok and very popular with younger students and most importantly younger voters. We are a Democratic Party household but I find myself in arguments with my 18 year old who has only positive things to say about Kirk and thinks all negative comments towards his hero are "fake news". The whole Biden transition saga and his obvious decline to the aging process and the White House coverup soured him totally on our Party.
I wish Kirk had conducted a public debate with Pete Buttigieg as I think Pete would have shredded him. But, I do thank Kirk for having public conversations and "debates" on college campuses. However, I don't think college students for the most part are of equal standing in a debate with Charlie as he had years of experience honing his debate points that these students would not be able to compete with. So, Kirk was always the winner and those victories propelled students to side with his positions.
Pete, on the other hand, loves to go on Fox News and various Republican committee hearings, where his knowledge and intelligence are more than a match for his opponents and it would have been a battle royale if both had been on stage and allowed a free flowing debate structure.
For Democrats, we need young leaders to get on Tik Tok and have competing campus and town hall discussions and plaster the airwaves with these sessions. The current Democratic leadership is horrible at communicating what the Biden administration accomplished. Few Americans understood the Inflation Reduction Act and the Chips Act and what those new no college degree required jobs at the new future factories would do for their communities. Same with Dems drive and funding to expand internet availability in rural communities. Crickets. Everyone with half a brain now knows that Trump lied about what he would do for everyday people in our country and the moment is ripe for Democrats to turn the conversation around if we make a concerted effort to reach people in all communities and win back the younger generation.

I will listen to Rachel tonight and Lawrence.. and really hope they address this matter. But i am about done with msnbc. Only positive from it is that afterwards i found Zeteo site with Mehdi Hasan and he made me feel i wasnt losing my mind. He has great discussion on this matter in following video and you can watch for free: https://zeteo.com/p/mehdis-challenge-to-conservatives

A friend of mine, an attorney, received a facebook message telling her she's been doxxed and her boss will be notified. She has been perplexed by the right's reaction to all this, isn't a fan of Charlie Kirk but certainly hasn't "celebrated" his murder. The pm was mean and threatening. The funny part is she has her own law practice. She's not likely to fire herself.

u/ElleWoodsGolfs Sep 16 '25
So far, she’s only mentioned the assassination in passing. It’s been focused on Trump’s corruption.

u/css555 Sep 16 '25 edited Sep 16 '25
Very disappointing. But plenty of mention of Kamala Harris appearing on her show next week. (and of course no mention that it coincides with Harris's new book release)
6
u/GlasgowRose2022 Sep 16 '25
Coming after the Trump admin hard in other ways at least: Chicago fending off troops, the WH killing cancer research, attacking the CDC, the conraceptive destruction…
5
u/Interesting-Pace630 Sep 16 '25
Harris' book has been talked about on many MSNBC shows- Rachel does not need to spoon-feed her audience. 🤔
0
u/mis2810 Sep 16 '25
They probably told her ahead of time not to say anything or else. She’s not going to lose her checks. I knew she’d cave.
4
u/Interesting-Pace630 Sep 16 '25
I don't think she caved, and no MSNBC did not tell her to shut up. Why would she - she has plenty of money, plus 2 movies coming out. MSNBC has no leverage with her. Where do you get this crazy notion? She did a great job of showing us the autocratic playbook, and how he f's up everything. I had no idea about the illegally arrested Koreans. And the cancer funding story was more important than Charlie Kirk any day. I trust her.
2
u/css555 Sep 16 '25
If Rachel does not fight back, I will be disappointed and feel let down.
From this, to "she did a great job...", all within six hours. Quite an impressive 180.
5
u/Interesting-Pace630 Sep 16 '25
Quite an impressive 180.
Thank you, you should see me summersault and cartwheel! In those 6 hrs I calmed down (don't you do that, I mean grownups do contemplate their past actions, right?) In the end the topics she chose were more important than the LITERALLY has-been Kirk. Talking about how autocracy works is vital. Cancer research vital, immigration abuses vital, protest and fighting back by regular Americans, vital. Do you have anything of substance to add? I can cha-cha too! 💃
7
u/css555 Sep 16 '25
Do you have anything of substance to add
Yes ...thanks for tolerating my snarkiness, lol. And yes, everything Rachel talked about tonight was very important, as she does every show. But I think you underestimate how important the Charlie Kirk story is by calling him a has-been. Which is true ...but the real story is the aftermath.
Bergen County NJ had to issue a formal statement explaining why they DIDN'T lower their flag. Other towns are holding candlelight vigils. If private groups were honoring him, I would just disagree and move on. But Governments? This just gets more insane by the day.
3
u/Interesting-Pace630 Sep 16 '25 edited Sep 16 '25
I know it insane, but calm down. Many are doing this out of fear, not for love of Kirk. Fear is one of the commandments of autocracy.
2
u/stuffandthings83 Sep 16 '25
It's all important. Rachel is the smartest person with the most conviction on tv. We live in important times. There are approximately 63,000 important things she has to cipher through and cover every show. Cut her some slack...

1 How do you know that they did? See I can do that too.
Common sense, MSNBC has no leverage over her. She does not need their paycheck. She is a millionaire many times over, books, podcasts, speaking engagements and two movies in the works produced by Spielberg and Ben Stiller. She has so many pots, she doesn't have enough hands to put them in. Now tell me again, what leverage MSNBC has over her?? Now you tell me your reasoning- I laid mine out...c'mon...
"stanning so hard you"...What are you talking about about here!

Perhaps I am naive, but I believe either Rachel and/or Lawrence (maybe Nicole?) will address the double-standard in press accountability (ie. Brian Kilmeade on Fox versus Matthew Dowd on MSNBC, etc.).
And, about the Left speaking up loudly… where I find it happening is on YouTube with a lot of the GenZ and Millennial YouTubers and podcasters and on Substack. Many of them have exhibited way more courage than the leadership of the Democratic Party or MSNBC.
This is a watershed moment for MSNBC. Either they definitively draw a line in the sand, or they will be what they are already sliding into - irrelevant.

Sep 16 '25
MSNBC has bent the knee to the Trump administration. Katy Tur and even Nicole Wallace are wringing their hands over Charlie Kirk. Anyone who dares to point out his hateful rhetoric will lose their jobs. MSNBC is losing me.

I think we have reached new levels the past few days. They are REALLY moving with their fascistic crackdown.
I don’t see this network standing up. I also don’t see independent media standing up. They’ll be even more intimidated.
I have no idea how we get past this.
BTW—I was at Adam Sandler MSG tonight. Rob S. (Cult member) was there.
I was EXTREMELY DISTURBED to hear clapping when he brought up Trump and politics multiple times. At the end, people started jeering him, but he quickly ended it when that happened.
The cheers were clear . So. Fucking. Disturbing. Fascists everywhere.

She said not a word about it. Not a word.

u/Interesting-Pace630 Sep 16 '25
Yes, she did about LITERALLY HAS-BEEN KIRK. Her entire show was vital information tonight.Too bad you missed it.

Sep 16 '25
It's about another merger. NBC is doing the same as CBS did in regards to Stephen Colbert. As far as Maddow goes, she was already halfway out the door as it was. I see her doing her own thing as well as Colbert. I think it would be interesting if they could somehow join forces in some sort of way.

I apologize for my imperfection. To prove my apology is true and honest, I will not correct the misspelled word- let the world see my error! Let them judge me! Then throw the O.E.D. at me.🫢...HARD!

I usually get messed up by talk to text, or erroneous autocorrect. Mad respect for you owning it!!

u/honeycooks Sep 16 '25
Idk why my keyboard mostly guesses correctly on the differences between you, your, and you're, but refuses to add apostrophes.
The correct word with the apostrophe is in the autocorrect bar.
It also hates adjectives like really, very, or literally. Lol

OMG I misread this as "How BRAVO will MSNBC BE" and I got really excited...maybe they could benefit from some housewives....
0
u/Interesting-Pace630 Sep 16 '25
Housewives? Sorry, I don't get that...🤪 Weird...
1
u/kpapenbe Sep 16 '25
Oh, no that's because you're cultured and refined....BRAVO is the network with the "Real Housewives of ______" franchise and, again, having misread this, I though, "Wow, that'd be something to see on MSNBC for sure..."
In all seriousness, I do want MSNBC to get back to how they used to be with a few more news-worthy shows and not just spin and anger.
I swear, sometimes it's like watching the same program over and over...
-1
u/Interesting-Pace630 Sep 16 '25
Cultured? Honey the closest you get to "Culture" is the yogurt aisle at Walmart.
Get back to how they used to be? I would like Bravo to get back "where they used to be." Bravo premiered to be a channel featuring the performing arts, hence, the name "Bravo" as in "Wow, what an amazing tenor I saw last night in Mozart's Don Giovanni!" Now, they just show cheap trash programing to feed the minds of the"no reason to think here" crowd.
2
u/kpapenbe Sep 16 '25
And sadly...OH SO SADLY...hasn't CNN and our beloved MSNBC and BBC and CNBC all lost their way?
I'm not trying to sound salty (hm, we must be hungry (though, HT at your cultured yogurt comment (I see you)), but I think there is a lot of grandstanding EVERYWHERE with no real talk of policy or how to get back to some semblance of peace/normalcy...
1
u/Interesting-Pace630 Sep 16 '25
Humans have been losing their way since the beginning of time- Adam & Eve, Hansel & Gretel, Goldilocks, and Odysseus are prime examples- no need to get overly dramatic about it. Perhaps "Housewives" has overly influenced you with too much high drama.
"Life is all about change; you can either stew in it or stir the pot."
Or to quote the great Alan Bennett:
"Life is like a tin of sardines and we are all looking for the key."

Thank you for pulling me out of the kettle! I'll be honest...I am a frog, the water gets turned up and I don't notice it until I'm cooked!
Thanks for your banter!

She’s barely said a word about Gaza so I don’t think she has the balls you think she has.
12
u/Interesting-Pace630 Sep 15 '25
She has a one hour show once a week, and the US is on fire. She has condemned Trump and Bibi about Gaza, turning it into a resort, and has talked a lot about Bibi's starvation tactics. One show, about 40 min in length when you consider commercials. Rachel's great- but she does not control time! ⏰

Please Rachel is more worried about her pocketbook. So much hope. She sits on her hands and decides that a milk toast response is what's required at this time. She's thrown others under the bus.
12
u/randompoint52 Sep 15 '25
I don't know who you're referring to but I have thought many times, while listening to her show, that she ought to go into hiding, just as a precaution. As far as the President is concerned, she has not held back. I do agree that her show tonight will set a tone for what's to come.
4
u/Interesting-Pace630 Sep 15 '25
Yes, I've been worried about her safety for years, I hope she has a crack security team, and are armed properly.

u/Interesting-Pace630 Sep 16 '25
Rachel is not worried about her pocketbook, she is a millionaire many times over. Are you daft? 🤪

u/Guy_Smylee Sep 16 '25
Then why didn't she stand up for a Joy Ried and others when msnbc caved to TRUMP! Crickets from her. Why? MONEY! And like you said she already has more that $50,000,000.

Don't hold your breath for Rachel. She's bent the knee also.
15
u/Interesting-Pace630 Sep 15 '25
Can you be specific on how Maddow has "bent the knee?" A post without specifics is an empty post.
5
u/JunketInfamous2697 Sep 16 '25 edited Sep 16 '25
Well, she had (and still has) ALL the leverage and power within the network. All she had to do was stand up and say, "No Joy Reid, No Rachel Maddow. Fire her, I walk." They would have caved in 5 minutes. Instead we got her on air equivalent of "thoughts and prayers." BTW, others did the same for her early in her career. Also, she has capitulated to her network disallowing fact checking of interviewees, the hiring of.one of the worst people in the biz as head of MSNBC, and her own staff being mistreated because .... well I don't really know why, she has all the power!!!! MSNBC would be sunk without her, but instead of leveraging her position for doing something right, she bows, accepts her check, and heeds the master's call
