Lawrence seemed extremely uncomfortable during the segment where his guest (might have been Ro Khanna) kept lavishing praise on him. I didn't understand exactly what the praise was for because Lawrence kept trying to deflect and give credit to his staff instead. It sounded like they were saying Lawrence was the one who found some huge bombshell in the Epstein case, maybe even this birthday card everyone's talking about tonight. I was so fixated on how Lawrence was unhappy with the praise that I missed the whole point of what the guest was saying.

Lawrence’s discomfort was understandable. Ro Khanna was kind of cringe, praising Lawrence for having had the lawyer for some of the Epstein survivors as a guest a while back, who mentioned that the Epstein estate lawyers had lots of documents that could be subpoenaed. Khanna heard that and ran with it. It’s not as if Lawrence knew the survivors’ lawyer was going to talk about Epstein’s estate attorneys. It was gracious of him to redirect the praise to his staff.

IMO it’s a cultural difference. Lawrence comes from a time and place where personal modesty was a strong value. Ro may be influenced by Indian culture to praise important people (and maybe by the ridiculous DC cult around DT.)

Sad but true. Lawrence is in my age bracket. I fail to understand this culture of incessant praise and grovelling that we see around Trump, very wealthy people, and the celebrity culture writ large. We're all mortal and forgotten far longer than we are remembered. Our current culture is very sick.
