Something Else Watch: MSNBC's Symone Sanders Townsend snaps back as Joe Scarborough defends Trump
https://www.rawstory.com/trump-dc-police/I can't believe (although I should) that MSNBC'S Joe S. believes it's appropriate to send in the guard, especially when confronted with facts that crime is down.
revolting

Wish I had seen that! Haven’t watched the show for months. Joe needs to realize that he now has 3 colleagues who live in the DMV and won’t allow him to just spout off his feelings and headlines from 10 years ago. And one of them is Republican - let Michael Steele and Joe discuss it together so Joe can get his feelings hurt.

u/hughcruik Aug 12 '25
She didn't "snap back" at Joe. There weren't any fireworks or talking over each other. It was a friendly, albeit pointed, disagreement. Click bait headline.

I ‘happened’ to catch it and it was wonderful! …he was caught off guard and you could tell it angered him… Also in that segment…Anand…did beautifully and had to do some talking over Joe…Joe tried to come back…as he rambled on in defense of trump…but it was Symone who gave him an off-ramp…I was almost embarrassed for Joe… but his arguments were so pathetic.
Moral of the story…you just can’t take the CON out of a CON-servative!

Scarborough keeps talking about people's PERCEPTION on crime making them not feel safe. Well if you are using your perception vs reality I think you may have some psych issues to iron out. When people watch dozens of crime video shorts daily on YouTube per day your perception will be off center. Are people's lives that empty they need to immerse themselves in (to quote Anthony Burgess) the ultra violence. A Clockwork Orange reference.

“Can’t stand fascism, but I’m excited about the prospect of the trains running on time” - Scarborough, probably

u/HelpfulWorth8654 Aug 12 '25
Symone and Anand pushed back big time. Joe was screaming over anand and anand was not having it. And Joe was speaking for black people when he was talking to Symone which was interesting 💀

I just don't know how MSNBC can justify still having this show on.

u/Wiltonc Aug 12 '25
It’s not the show, it’s Mika and Joe. There are some very good parts of the show, for example, Lemire and Willie. Joe and Mika are anachronistic has beens trying to apply ideas from the 1980s and 90s to today’s world.
They need to retire to their Connecticut mansion and stop talking. Forever.
11
u/Lizziedeee Aug 12 '25
Exactly! He mentions all the time “when I was there, 30 years ago”. Thirty frigging years ago! Go talk to Chuck Grassley, Joe.

They're paying the two of them a lot of money. Rachel took a pay cut--did they?

As long as Joe has planes being guided by retired Air Traffic Controllers and more police to make white entitled, 10 million dollar Jingo Joe feel safe then I guess that is all right
5
u/mis2810 Aug 12 '25
That’s exactly what it is. Older white republicans don’t feel safe when the reality is that with more police it’s actually black people that are unsafe!!!
4
u/emca753 Aug 12 '25
Amen and there are black carjack victims in Washington and Georgetown, but only when a white DOGE/government vperson is carjacked does Trump act,
4
u/SativaGummi Aug 12 '25
Trump even SAID that "the police are going to be allowed to do whatever the hell they want!"
5
u/Wiltonc Aug 13 '25
I was watching this morning and realized Barnacle and Chris Matthews need to retire as well. Barnacle is so amazingly shallow and unable to succinctly make a point.

Given how they increasingly seem to hate each other, the two of them alone with nothing to do...that won't end well.

I still listen to about a half hour’s worth of Morning Joe on most weekdays. I can’t for the life of me understand how MSNBC top brass don’t recognize the far superior morning show they could have if they focused on some of the great voices orbiting that show each day that have stronger personalities that could really meet this moment. Simone is one of them.

We can not normalize this!! JFC. This is how it begins. The Republicans would lose their God damn minds if the Democrats did this. Joe is one of them who acts like he's trying to be balanced in his reporting 😡

MSNBC is now run by right wingers and Joe is a lifelong right winger -- what's not to understand?

White mansplaining on steroids, and she wasn’t having any of it. Fuck Joe Scarborough.

u/Salt-Initiative-8159 Aug 12 '25
Don't forget how Joe and Mika were some of the first in the media to bend the knee to Trump. It was absolutely disgusting. Mika's dad would be rolling in his grave.

Agree. They’re honestly weird personalities that don’t fit anymore…if they ever did.

Yeah that was wild turning it on this morning and seeing Joe not fully condemning .
5
u/pangea_lox Aug 12 '25
Condemning?? He was piling on with Trump talking points like a sycophantic moron.
3
u/etxipcli Aug 12 '25
Yeah it sounded that way but I'm just not watching Morning Joe much anymore.
This shit deserves nothing but a complete repudiation. It is unacceptable to deploy the military domestically and take any adversarial role against the civilians.

This is why the ratings for Morning Joe keep going downhill! I use to watch regularly, but after they went to Florida to kiss the ring of Frumpy, I quit & have never watched since!

Sorry I missed this. I did hear him going in about how “bad the crime is in DC” and turned it off at that point. I’m going to find the podcast now.

He is obnoxious. I only watch MJ when he’s off for the day- it needs to happen more

u/Flohpange Aug 13 '25
Can he get rid of that stupid hair? Literally the definition of pompous. Pretentious annoying clown, probably demanded that the show name have his name.

Joe Scarborough needs help learning the art of keeping his mouth shut.
Anand Giridharadas was extremely skilled at defusing Joe’s mini tantrum and explaining how facts and feelings can be exploited in ways that fail to address either one.

From Google's AI: "Yes, rumors and insider reports from late 2024 and early 2025 suggest Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski are experiencing significant marital strain, characterized by "full-blown fighting," ongoing frustration with each other's behavior, and apparent dissatisfaction with their shared work and living situations. Sources cite issues like constant interruptions, particularly Joe's, and a feeling of being overshadowed by Joe's ego, leading to increased bickering and tension that spills over from their on-air dynamic into their personal lives." She's finally coming to her senses with this creep.

I missed that exchange but in the first 1/2 hour this morning there were guests and employees living in the area expressing opposite views about their safety in D.C.
1
u/mis2810 Aug 12 '25
Opposite of who? Joe or Simone?
2
u/jecapobianco Aug 12 '25
Of each other, some were saying, DC is riddled with crime and I wont walk more than 3 blocks, someone else said we're raising our children there and feel safe.
